Since 2001, for 15 years, Tea Tree Gully Uniting Church supported 35 Sudanese orphan refugee children in Uganda. I visited them in Uganda in 2012.
After taking the children to Year 6 schooling, giving them a good education with English language skills, the generous church funding closed.
However, as I had met the students and had been administering their support by the church over that time, my wife Caroline & I took on the role of continued support for about 15 students and now their families.
Since retiring, that support is much harder to maintain.
There are many critical needs, particularly with health issues.
A serious need currently is with the son of one of the original students. He is a 7 y.o. boy, who has a massive facial tumor. The local clinic has helped as best they can, but he needs cranio-facial surgery in Juba, the capital of South Sudan, where he lives with is family.
He is ostrasized by the community and suffers greatly, throught no-fault of his own.
We are seeking funds to cover the $3,500 AUD surgery costs, plus transport, hospital fees, medications and care that he will need, all of which will total at least $5,000 AUD.
We have reached to other groups, Mercy Ship, Doctors Without Borders etc, but they are unable to assist.
Are you able to support this young man regain some form of dignity and acceptance in his community?
Blessings for considering supporting this project.
