My dear friend Donnell has just relocated to his hometown due to an emergency and is now facing a critical situation without housing, transportation, or employment. He's actively applying for jobs and has interview requests coming in, but he needs financial help to bridge this gap while he has no income.
The donations will help cover transportation costs to get to job interviews, food, and obtaining an extended stay hotel stays while he works toward stability. After a sudden job loss, Donnell suffered a vehicle repossession and a recent eviction. The day before his eviction he used up the rest of what remaining money he had left to buy a train ticket, packed a few bags (the small 3 bag limit allowed) and boarded a train to head back to his hometown, leaving most of his possessions behind.
The job loss was through no fault of his own but he was forced to resign after retaliation occurred in the form of his work hours being severely reduced. The cascade effect resulted in getting behind on his car payments and rent, which led to the repossession and eviction. The DC metro area offers him better job opportunities and has several public transit options unlike where he formerly lived, so he is trying to immediately get re-established after losing everything. He's currently on the streets without any shelter (and dealing with painful sciatica while having no housing options) and has no money for food or public transit needs. He's been able to get some help only from a few family & friends and was denied assistance from a couple of churches before relocating. Those funds have been exhausted.
Throughout this ordeal Donnell also lost his best friend who recently passed away so not only is he dealing with the loss of his place, possessions, vehicle and employment, but also the loss of a friend and is navigating that grieving process. I am trying to raise funds on behalf of my friend Donnell while he is homeless and will electronically transfer all donations directly to him. Every bit of support will help them through this difficult transition and no amount is too small.
Thank you for standing with my friend during this very challenging time.
