Dear Friends & Family,
As many of you already know, Cara just had a major medical emergency that began on Monday, October 19th that required an ambulance ride to the hospital. Things escalated and after another sudden migraine Today, Thursday, October 22nd, she had to be airlifted by helicopter from here in Dubuque down to Iowa City.
The doctors found a small brain bleed, and she is currently in the hospital under close watch so they can run more scans and make sure the bleeding stops. We are believing for a full recovery, but right now, John and Cara are under an incredible amount of stress.
To add to the weight of this crisis, they do not have health insurance.
Between the helicopter flight, the ER visits, an ICU stay, and the specialized neurological care, the bills are going to be astronomical. On top of that, John needs to be by her side in Iowa City, which means paying out of pocket for gas and meals every day while he is away from home.
We want to take the financial burden off their shoulders so John can focus entirely on taking care of Cara. We’re setting an initial goal of $75,000 to help them cover these immediate expenses and the massive bills on the way.
