Three-year-old Isabella spontaneously became paralyzed in her arms and could barely walk. Her parents, Carlos and Jennifer, took her to the emergency room, where doctors did numerous tests, including MRIs, spinal taps, and genetic testing. They eventually moved her into the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Colorado Springs out of fear she would worsen and not be able to breathe on her own, or in the worst case, that her heart to stop.
After several rounds of treatment, doctors still did not have any answers and could not explain why Isabella was worsening; becoming paralyzed in her arms, trunk, and neck. After intravenous immunoglobulin treatment failed, Isabella was transferred to an in-patient rehab in Aurora to help with the weakness she was experiencing. This also failed.
Despite failed treatments and not having any answers, Isabella was sent home where she continued to deteriorate until she could no longer walk, eat, or breathe on her own. She was readmitted to the hospital, placed in the PICU, and was finally diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome of the cervical brachial variant, after weeks of fighting for answers. Doctors say it is a rare case, are unsure of recovery, and there is no discharge date in sight.
We are raising money to help cover treatment costs for Isabella with full faith that God will ensure a complete recovery. Thank you for donating to help cover the astronomical medical costs Isabella’s parents are facing. Your donation shows tremendous support for parents that shouldn’t have to experience this.
