Displaced After House fire

Hi my name is Bekah

I am looking for help fundraising for a used camper. I'm a forty-eight-year-old single female who is on disability for complex PTSD. I was also a helper for two of my elderly friends, both 83 years old. I lived on their property in their camper and assisted them with their day-to-day needs, including yard work, home and car maintenance, pet care, and many other things.

On Saturday, October 3rd, their house burned to the ground. The fire department says it was a dryer fire. I have attached photos of what is left.

I was outside doing some boat work with the husband when I turned and saw that the roof was on fire. The wife was still inside the house. I ran inside to evacuate her and their pets. Praise God, there was no loss of life. The entire home burned to the ground in approximately seven minutes.

My friends have lived in this home for over 60 years. It was completely paid off. They have insurance and intend to rebuild. However, I willingly and freely vacated their camper on the property so they would not have to be displaced. I am now living in my car with my dog, Hope.

As I lay in my car last night, I cried and prayed to God for answers. A close friend of mine—someone I trust and respect—recommended that I post on this website. I'm not someone who normally asks for help, and I am very private due to being a victim of domestic violence. However, I can also acknowledge that I am in a bad situation, and I cannot continue to live in my vehicle long-term with my dog, especially given my own mental health and personal safety.

I spoke with some companies today about financing a used camper. However, being on Social Security, I do not have enough gross income to qualify. My immediate need right now is shelter. I have a place to put a camper, but I have to locate one first. I have been looking on Facebook Marketplace, and the cheapest option I've found is four thousand dollars and over six hours away. That does not include the cost of having it moved, as I do not have a vehicle capable of towing it.

I know there are many people on here asking for help, and I am by no means more worthy than the next person. But if you could find it in your heart to help us, I would be forever grateful. God knows my challenges, and I believe He is trying to pave a new way for me. My dog, Hope, and I just need a little help getting there. Anything is very much appreciated, and I would be deeply grateful for any support you are able to give.
