The Servants of the Lord and the Virgin of Matara (known a “blue nuns” due to their distinctive habits) is a women's religious order with a novitiate house in Prince George's County Maryland. This dynamic and holy order draws many young vocations who reside in community at a farmhouse near Bowie, Maryland. The sisters and their novices rely on donations from the faithful for all their activities.
The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Monsignor Wells Division has been supporting the novitiate house for almost a decade with groceries, household items, and yard work.
The Sisters' water heater is in need of replacement which is a major expense. The house was built in 1800s, is heated by an oil fired boiler and the boiler has an irreparable leak and needs to be replaced. At this time the boiler is unsafe to operate and the house has no heat.
The Monsignor Wells Division will match all donations up to $2,000.
