Sometimes life throws more at a family than they can possibly prepare for, and right now, our family is facing one of those moments.
Recently, I was rear-ended by a driver who had no automobile insurance. The accident was not my fault, but the financial consequences have been overwhelming.
My vehicle sustained approximately $12,000 in damage and has officially been declared a total loss.
Unfortunately, I do not have rental car coverage, uninsured motorists coverage and I have a $1,000 insurance deductible. On top of losing our family vehicle, we now face another unexpected expense: replacing our children's car seats. My insurance company will not cover the replacements upfront, meaning I have to find the money to purchase them first before I can be reimbursed. And with how expensive they are (for good reason) that is a hard task right now with everything else needing to be paid for as well.
As a mother of four children, reliable transportation isn't a luxury. It's a necessity. We need a safe vehicle to get our children where they need to go, attend appointments, handle everyday responsibilities, and rebuild our financial stability.
What makes this situation even more difficult is that my husband recently entered military basic training with every intention of building a better future for our family. We had made plans and sacrifices based on his military career. Unfortunately, an unexpected medical condition involving his spine was discovered during training, and he was sent home.
In a matter of weeks, the future we had worked so hard to plan changed completely.
We are now facing the loss of our family vehicle, unexpected transportation expenses, medical concerns, and financial uncertainty, all while trying to provide for four children.
We are asking for help raising $5,500 to put toward replacing our family vehicle, purchasing safe car seats, covering transportation costs, and helping our family recover from the financial impact of this accident. Any insurance payments or reimbursements we receive will be applied toward the expenses they cover.
We understand that times are difficult for everyone, and asking for help is not easy. We aren't looking for anything extravagant. We simply want to get our family safely back on the road and regain some stability.
