I am tearing down the curtain. For years, people have known me as John Thomas Tomassetti IV, the filmmaker behind Masterwork Productions. You’ve seen the beautiful weddings, the romance, and the illusion of worldly success.

But today, the Holy Spirit has broken my pride. I am falling on my face before the Body of Christ because my family is drowning in a compounding storm, and we have no human way out.

This year, the wedding industry changed overnight. Between algorithm shifts on Meta and a market flooded with creators, my leads and bookings didn’t just slow down, they completely vanished. My business cards are inactive. My credit score is destroyed, making it impossible to draw equity from our home. The income that fed my children dried up, and we were cut off from state assistance because of our past success.

While my business is now collapsing, my household has been pushed into a furnace of affliction over the past year and a half.

My wife is a legally disabled VA veteran who gave her health to our country. I will be honest with you, I made an idol out of my business and success. I put material security above my Creator. In the midst of this trial, God broke me. I have repented. I have completely surrendered our home, our business, and our lives to the mercy and sovereign will of God. We are standing in absolute faith, trusting Him even when the walls are closing in.

I know some will judge me for exposing our failure. Some will look down on a man asking for charity. Let them. As a husband and a father, my spiritual assignment is to protect and provide for my household. Right now, fulfilling that assignment means shattering my ego, kneeling before my brothers and sisters in faith, and admitting that I cannot carry this cross alone.
