Urgent support needed.

I've spent my Life Helping Others. Now, I'm the One Who Needs Help.

I'm going to be honest: writing this is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do.

I'm not someone who asks for help. I've always been the person who figures things out, finds a way to make things work, and steps up when someone else needs a hand. If a family member needed help, I was there. If a friend needed somewhere to stay, I opened my door. If the people I loved were struggling, I did whatever I could to help them get through it.

For the last six years, I've poured so much of myself into making sure my family was okay. I've helped where I could, supported the people I love, and done my best to keep everything together while still meeting my own financial obligations.

I never expected anything in return. That's just who I've always been.

But somewhere along the way, I used up the resources I might one day need for myself.

And now, for the first time in a very long time, I'm the one who needs help, and I honestly don't know where else to turn.

My truck isn't just my truck. It's my livelihood, my home, and my security.

For more than 13 years, I've worked as a pilot truck operator in the over-dimensional and over-size (OD/OS) transportation industry. I run a small, one-truck business, and I've built my working life around this job.

I genuinely love what I do. I love the freedom of the road, the people I meet, and the places this career has taken me. It's given me opportunities and experiences I never imagined I'd have.

I've worked hard to build this business, and my truck has been with me through so much.

She's a good truck, with 653,000 kilometres behind her, and she's been a huge part of how I've supported myself and the people I care about.

But yesterday, everything came to a head.

My engine needs to be replaced.

The truck has blown a lifter, possibly more than one. Until the engine is opened up, we won't know the full extent of the damage. My mechanic has advised that, given the kilometres on the engine, simply repairing the lifters would be a gamble. It could mean opening up what he calls "Pandora's box"and chasing one problem after another, potentially costing more in the long run than replacing the engine altogether.

After looking at my options, replacing the engine makes the most financial sense.

There is a crate engine available in Vancouver. With taxes, shipping, and installation, the total will come to just under $15,000. It comes with a three-year warranty.

I've also contacted scrapyards to see whether I could find a less expensive alternative. The two available engines I found would save me only about $1,500, and neither comes with a warranty.

I've done my homework. I've looked at the options, weighed the risks, and tried to find the most sensible way forward.

The problem isn't that I don't know what needs to be done.

The problem is that, after spending years using what I had to help everyone else, I no longer have the financial means to do it myself.

The timing couldn't be worse.

Over the last year, I've lost so much.

Within the last three months, I've had to give up my actual home. I made the difficult decision not to look for another place just yet because I wanted to put every available dollar toward the debt I'd accumulated while helping others over the years.

My plan was simple: keep working, live in my truck while on the road, and use my days off to rest in it as well. It wasn't an ideal situation, but it was a plan. It gave me a roof over my head, allowed me to keep earning an income, and gave me a chance to get back on my feet financially.

I was willing to make those sacrifices because I believed that if I kept working hard and stayed focused, I could eventually turn things around.

Now, with the engine gone, even that option has been taken away from me.

My truck isn't just the vehicle I use to get to work. It's also where I've been staying. Without it running, I've lost my ability to earn an income and the temporary shelter I've been relying on.

I don't even have my dog with me right now. I've arranged for her to stay with a family friend because I want her to be safe and cared for while I try to figure all of this out.

I've lost my home. I've lost my relationship. I'm separated from my dog. And now, I'm facing the loss of the one thing I need to keep myself financially afloat: my business.

I'm trying to hold on to the one thing that could help me rebuild everything else.

Why I'm asking for help now

I've spent my life being the person who finds a way.

I've been the one people could call when they needed a hand. I've tried to be dependable, generous, and strong for the people around me, even when things weren't easy for me personally.

Asking for help has never come naturally to me. In fact, putting this story out there is uncomfortable in ways I can't fully explain.

But I've reached a point where working harder isn't enough. I can't earn my way out of this situation without a working truck, and I can't get the truck running without the money to replace the engine.

It's a difficult position to be in when the very thing you need to keep moving forward is financially out of reach.

I could buy another truck, but that would mean taking on another lengthy financing commitment, potentially another eight years of payments. My current truck is already in the final year of its payments. Financially, replacing the engine is the more sensible option, allowing me to preserve the investment I've already made rather than start all over again with another truck and another mountain of debt.

I don't want to lose the business I've worked to build. I don't want to be forced into bankruptcy. And I don't want to watch everything I've worked so hard for disappear because I can't get past this one enormous obstacle.

I'm not asking for a handout because I've given up. I'm asking for a helping hand because I'm still trying to fight my way through this.

I want to get my truck running again. I want to get back to work, earn my own living, pay my bills, and start rebuilding my life one step at a time.

I want the chance to do what I've always done: put my head down, work hard, and find my way forward.

But right now, I can't do that alone.

If you can help, it would mean more than you know.

I'm reaching out in the hope that there are people who might be willing to help me get through this incredibly difficult time.

If you can contribute anything toward the cost of replacing my engine, please know that every dollar would bring me one step closer to getting back on the road.

You don't have to make a large donation. Even a small amount, when many people come together, can make a meaningful difference.

And if you aren't in a position to donate, I completely understand. Sharing my story with others could help it reach someone who is able to contribute. That, too, would mean a great deal to me.

I know everyone has their own struggles and responsibilities. I don't take it lightly to ask anyone for help, and I'm grateful to anyone who takes the time to read my story.

I've spent so many years trying to make sure the people around me were okay. Right now, I'm hoping that, just this once, someone might be able to help me be okay, too.

I'm not looking for someone to fix my entire life. I'm simply asking for a chance to keep the one thing I need to rebuild it.

A working truck means an income. An income means a chance to find a home again, get back on top of my finances, and begin putting the pieces of my life back together.

It means a chance to keep going.

If you'd like to help me get back on the road, you can contribute through this forum's donation option.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading this far, for hearing me out, and for considering helping me through a time when I truly don't know what else to do.

I never imagined I'd find myself in this position. But here I am, putting my pride aside and asking for help because I still have hope that I can turn things around.

I've spent years being the person others could lean on.

Today, I'm hoping someone might be willing to lend me a hand.
