Preserve Greenbrier Fire Department History

🚒 Help Preserve Greenbrier’s Fire Department History!

Retired from service. Not forgotten.

For decades, Greenbrier’s fire apparatus have served our community, responding to emergencies, protecting lives, and becoming part of our city’s history.

Now, several of those retired trucks are being offered at public auction, and Faulkner County Fire Buff is working to preserve as many as possible before that history disappears.

Our initial fundraising goal is $5,000, with the auction scheduled to close on October 22, 2026.

Our primary preservation targets include:

  1. Engine 2 — Hahn Fire Engine: A historic piece of Greenbrier’s firefighting history, including service during former Chief Jim Sutterfield’s tenure.
  2. Engine 4 — 1995 Pierce Fire Engine: Another recognizable piece of the department’s history.
  3. Crash 1 — 1986 Oshkosh P19: A unique specialty firefighting vehicle with its own place in Greenbrier’s apparatus history.

Additional retired vehicles may also be considered depending on available funding.

What Will Happen to the Trucks?

Our goal is to preserve these vehicles for historical displays, parades, educational opportunities, and community events. We want future generations to have the opportunity to see the apparatus that once protected Greenbrier.

This is an independent preservation initiative organized through Faulkner County Fire Buff and is not an official City of Greenbrier or Greenbrier Fire Department fundraiser.

❤️ Individual Sponsorships — $20+

For contributions of $20 or more, supporters can have their names recognized inside the preserved apparatus’ equipment compartments, which we plan to open for public viewing during community events.

This allows us to recognize the people who helped save these vehicles while preserving their historic exterior appearance.

🏢 Business Sponsorship Opportunities

We’re inviting local businesses and organizations to become official supporters of the Apparatus Preservation Program.

Businesses interested in discussing a sponsorship package or recognition arrangements are encouraged to contact Faulkner County Fire Buff through Facebook or Instagram.

Where Will Donations Go?

Funds raised will support the acquisition and preservation of retired fire apparatus, including applicable auction fees, transportation, storage, and preservation expenses.

Acquisition depends on auction results and available funding. If a particular vehicle cannot be acquired, remaining funds will be directed toward other eligible apparatus preservation expenses. Sponsor recognition is dependent on successfully acquiring and displaying the vehicles.

The preservation program is working toward establishing a formal nonprofit organization but is not currently a registered nonprofit. Contributions should not be assumed to be tax-deductible.

⏳ The Auction Ends October 22!

We have a limited opportunity to preserve these vehicles before they are sold.

Whether you contribute $20, become a business sponsor, or simply share this fundraiser, you’re helping us work toward preserving an important piece of Greenbrier’s history.

Retired from service. Not forgotten.

Thank you for supporting the Faulkner County Fire Buff Apparatus Preservation Program!
