We currently care for 18 kitties.  Monthly costs for food, medical care, spay/neuter costs, blood testing, insurance, so much initial startup expense, building upgrades, catios and outdoor enclosers, fire suppression system.  I want to avoid a tragedy like Happy Cat Sanctuary had earlier this year where 100+ kitties and their founder Chris lost their lives to a devastating fire.  We survive on donations alone.

The soft meows, the desperate eyes seeking warmth and safety—it's heartbreaking to see them shivering under cars or fighting for scraps at dumpsters. That’s why I opened Knox Kittie Haven and Rescue in Knox, IN, it felt like home for these hapless furrballs after years of wandering alone, frightened, cold, starving. 😿

Knox Kittie Haven and Rescue is more than just a shelter; it's a sanctuary where every kittie gets the medical care, the love, and the happy life they deserve until loving families come to adopt them. But here's the crux: our passion for these little lives doesn’t pay bills or buy food and litter. It costs real money - more than $5,000/month, in fact—to keep the doors open so that we may continue this crucial work and expand in the future. 💸

I remember one particular kitty named Grizzly, who came limping and bloodied into KKHR two years ago. He was nothing but a tiny ball of fur with barely any strength left to even arch his back when stroked. But in just weeks, under our care the promise of better days came, Grizzly blossomed into an energetic little soul full of purrs. That transformation is what keeps us going through long nights feeding kitties or cleaning litter boxes. 😽

Whether it's a one-time donation or regular support each month, every bit helps to ensure we can keep the doors open for the next Grizzly who needs shelter and love this very night. Your donations mean not just food and warmth but also the necessary and very expensive Veterinary care when they arrive injured, or fall ill from their tough lives outdoors.  Initial intake is generally over $500 Veterinary bill.  Vaccines, blood tests, spay/neuter, without any wounds or injuries.
