Financial Relief for Widower + Purchase Headstone

On August 4th 2026 my Mother passed away from an infection that started in her intestines. She always had health issues, but they became more severe in the last year. Both my Father and I took care of my Mother during these issues, but initially it was primarily my Father. Unbeknownst to me, my Father was so wrapped up in caring for my Mom (and everything else that goes along with watching your wife of 55 years slowly die) had let several bills go unpaid and several issues around the home go unfixed. My Mom died without life insurance, so everything for her funeral had been paid out of pocket. Despite family assistance this still cleaned out my Father’s finances. Both him and my Mom worked for the Erie welfare office until their retirement. Both lived off of their pensions, social security, and my Mom’s disability checks that she received for her Chron’s, spinal stenosis, and severe arthritis. 

I moved back home to help with my Mom towards the end of her life, and have been doing everything I can to assist my Dad financially during this time. But on top of my own bills, this is not sustainable. I am making this GiveSendGo to ask for donations for my Father: to help him recover his emergency fund, catch up on bills/things that need fixed around the house, and to get him back to a financial position where he is able to adapt to the change in income and expenses. All funds raised will go to his bills, living expenses, and general  household needs. 

While recent physical challenges limited my mom’s ability to attend Mass regularly, she was  deeply committed to her faith. Every morning, she began her day reading the Bible and prayer books, leaving behind several well-worn volumes with a lifetime of handwritten notes. Diane took part in several Bible study groups over the years was most recently a parishioner at St. Jude Catholic Church. 

Before her health no longer allowed her to be as active she was very dedicated to volunteering with Sacred Heart Church whether it was the prayer line, church clean up, and bringing communion to shut ins. My mom was one of the most faithful people I’ve been graced to know. I would like to make sure while she’s up in heaven she knows that the lover of her life, best friend and husband of 55 years is not struggling in the aftermath of her death.
