I wish I could go back to the person I was before my accident.
A work injury left me with a traumatic brain injury, and life hasn't been the same since. Things I once took for granted, like being alone, going out in public, and trusting my own body, are now daily struggles.
I have seizures where I pass out, shake, and become stiff. Afterward, I don't wake up feeling like myself. I'm confused and disoriented, and my family has to help bring me back. I also deal with severe migraines almost every day.
Watching it is terrifying for them. Living with it is terrifying for me, because I never know when the next one will come. I'm anxious about going out in public, and I can't safely be left home alone. I'm grateful for my family, but I miss doing things on my own.
That's why I'm asking for help getting a trained service dog. Not a pet. A partner who can provide calming pressure and grounding during and after my seizures, and who can help me feel safe enough to reclaim some independence.
My goal is $4,000 to find the right dog and cover training.
A service dog can't take away my injury. But it could mean walking out my front door with more confidence and helping my family sleep a little easier.
If you can't give, please share my story. One share could reach the right person.
Thank you for helping me believe tomorrow can look different. ❤️🐾
