Robbie Bowman is the last Rise Above Movement (RAM) activist who is still dealing with legal repercussions as a result of his activism and a federal  indictment.  RAM was a political project that showcased a new style of political activism in the United States.  Many of its members, including Robbie, fought off antifa and other agitators at political demonstrations, including Pro-Trump rallies. 

     Robbie is a South Bay (South Los Angeles) native from a working class family. Like many kids in the 1990s, Robbie got into drugs/addiction and had troubles with the law. He was getting sober and on the right path but like many others he was frustrated with the political violence and intimidation perpetrated against attendees at Trump rallies in California in 2016. 

   Robbie decided to take a stand. He attended several right wing and Trump rallies and defended himself and others from antifa attacks. Notable among them was the Battle of Berkeley, where he fought all day long against antifa who were attacking Trump supporters with bricks, bike locks, explosives, and knives.

    Robbie has been entangled in the flawed federal justice system since the original Rise Above Movement indictments of 2018. He was the only RAM defendant to reject a plea bargain and take the case to trial. Unfortunately he lost and has been sentenced to three years in prison.

      It bears emphasis that the statute he was convicted under, the Anti Riot Act, is of dubious constitutionality and has been very selectively enforced.

    Robbie is a devout Christian and currently is in recovery from his drug addiction. He recently obtained his commercial drivers license and was getting his life back in order when this happened.     

   Robbie’s friends are raising money to cover commissary and other expenses while he is incarcerated and a fund to help him get on his feet vocationally when he is released. Robbie is not a big social media guy but he has a heart of gold and was one of the original foot soldiers who put it all on the line back when even attending a rightwing rally was a very dangerous thing to do.
