We all know Sal DeRaffele as a mainstay of bass at the Green Island Café.

Unfortunately, his upright bass cracked this past week after being brought in from the cold and he’s had to take it to the shop to repair a pretty severe split in the wood top.

As his friends and colleagues, we created and are circulating this fundraiser to help support Sal.  This is a way of giving back to Sal, a stalwart of the jazz scene in DC and the Green Island Café, who has given us so much as an integral member of the Peter Edelman Trio house band.

Let’s do our part to get this man’s bass back, and in the Christmas Spirit, can we also fix the heater in his car so this doesn’t happen again? Many hands can make light work of this, please share widely.
