Dar el Salaam is a part of Cairo that has no organised support for the street dogs - they rely on the kindness of individuals who don't have much to spare themselves.

The dogs have litter after litter of puppies, most of which die after short, hard lives - full of ticks and fleas, harrassed and tortured by people, hungry and thirsty.

The American Cairo Animal Rescue has agreed to implement the FIRST catch, neuter and rescue programme for Dar el Salaam if we can raise £100 GBP per month.

This is just the start - next on thr list are rabies vaccinations, tick and flea medications, a WhatsApp group for local residents to report emergency cases, a tagging system, as well as an education programme on dog behaviour to reassure residents and help everyone live side by side without fear.
