Meadowview Senior & Assisted Christmas Dinner 2026
Welcome to our 6th Annual Christmas dinner at Meadowview Apartments.
Good morning friend. We hope this finds you well.
As many of you know my me and my wife put on an annual Christmas dinner and gift giving to our special friends at Meadowview Apartments in Twin Lakes WI. Many of you over the years have been part of this wonderful event and we are ever so grateful for you! This will be our sixth year doing so and we are so excited.
The past years have gone over with much success, bringing grandchildren, children, and loved ones back home for a meal and community. Please keep in mind this is a subsidized housing complex for disabled and seniors. Budgets for residents are beyond capacity.
It has been an even more challenging 2026, with the cost of food, gas, and many other needs the residents have. As well, we are continuing to experience the loss of friends (several residents), and loved ones, along with my brother Rob who died in August of this year at age 60. With many experiencing loss, loneliness, health issues, financial instability, etc. We offer prayer, encouragement, supplies, or just an ear to listen. Then there many who cannot even afford the basics you and I take for granted. The emotional well-being for almost every resident is challenged daily. Many feel anxiety, depression and despair. The list goes on and on. While my wife and I do what we can, it seems so daunting at times. Rest assured we will never stop doing what we do, so long as God provides and gives us the ability to do so. Having said that, it is certainly not all gloom and doom. Quite the opposite. We have received so much positive feedback about people feeling seen, heard, and experiencing the hope that they are not forgotten.
Everyone, and we mean everyone (the children and grandchildren of the residents are many times in similar situations) talks about the Christmas party and eagerly look forward to it each year.
While we are ever so grateful that our sponsored dinner is again being provided by Food For Friends, there is so much more to it. Our biggest need at this time is to be able to purchase the usual supplies, gifts, desserts, and many other necessities for the more than 70 residents along with some of their loved ones who are visiting for the day. We make sure everyone leaves with a small gift bag of treats, a card, and a gift or two, and of course a full stomach and most hopeful, a joyous heart. Last year 2025 you made it happen! You were part of something bigger. Thank you! Every resident received a wonderful turkey dinner with all the trimmings and dessert. Along with the meal, $100 cash to buy groceries or pay a bill. They also received blankets, pillows, toiletries, and a gift to take home.
We understand these can be hard times for you as well. If you most feel in your heart and are able to help out, please feel free to do so. We (especially the residents) would most greatly appreciate it.
The event is on Saturday, December 19th. As we do every year Donna and I have committed a specific dollar amount from our own savings to get the ball rolling. While we have numerous volunteers each year, please know our endeavor cannot move forward without sponsors like you.
We are accepting monetary donations in order to purchase food cards, gas cards, and other gift cards. We are also working on purchasing gifts such as games, candles, towel sets, robes, housewares, even stuffed animals (one for each resident) as we have done in previous years.
Please note we also provide food and other items throughout the year including a nice Thanksgiving dinner provided by "Food for Friends". While at the same time spending a bit of time in community with the residents.
Sincerely with blessings to you
Michael & Donna Guhr
