I am raising funds to help Iglesia Comunidad Cristiana Las Misericordias del Cielo in Calamar, Colombia, led by Pastora Arelis Muñoz Alfaro, continue improving its church building and expanding its ability to serve the surrounding community. This small congregation is dedicated not only to providing a place of worship, but also to offering spiritual, emotional, and practical support to those in need. Through the work and generosity of its members and supporters, the church has already made meaningful progress, but there is still much we hope to accomplish.
The building itself is not the mission—the building supports the mission. Our goal is not simply to renovate a church. We want to strengthen the church as a place where people can worship God, hear His Word, build relationships, receive encouragement and support, and serve their neighbors.
The physical improvements are one part of that vision. Planned work includes completing and improving the bathroom and shower, repairing flooring, painting the interior and exterior, finishing stucco and concrete surfaces, improving drainage at the front of the building, installing security cameras and motion-activated lighting, and making other needed repairs. I plan to personally provide much of the labor so that donations can be directed primarily toward materials and specialized work.
But our vision extends beyond the walls of the building. We also want to go into the surrounding community and learn how we can better reach and serve the people of Calamar. This includes canvassing the area, speaking with residents, learning which social-media platforms local people use most, and helping establish a stronger online presence for Pastora Arelis and the church. This would give the church another way to share biblical teaching, communicate upcoming services and activities, and stay connected with the community throughout the week.
We would also like to develop a regular monthly community outreach event in central Calamar where people can gather, build relationships, receive encouragement, and learn about the church. The purpose is not simply to advertise a Sunday service, but to meet people where they are, become a visible and consistent presence in the community, and personally invite those who are interested to become part of the church family.
Any contribution, large or small, will help move this mission forward. Donations will help purchase construction materials, paint, plumbing and bathroom supplies, electrical and security equipment, outreach materials, and other resources needed for the project.
Our prayer is that the result will be much greater than a renovated building. We hope to help strengthen a church that can continue worshiping God, teaching His Word, reaching people, serving families, and building relationships throughout Calamar for years to come.
In Christ,
Kenji Uhden
