I'm Carl Wheless, and I served in the U.S. Army during some of its toughest times—the Battle of Ramadi in Iraq. My service as an M1A1 Abrams Tanker back in 2004-2005 is well documented. My team was pivotal in turning the tide against insurgents, and I'm proud to say I played a significant role in those efforts.

Fast forward to today, and life has thrown me quite the curveball. 😔 After years of service, applying for disability retirement seemed like the right step after my physical evaluation board recommended it back in 2013. But since then, things have taken an unexpected turn. My retirement was ordered by the Army—but it wasn’t what I expected or deserved.

I fought to continue on active duty because I believed there were more benefits coming and accrued leave that could support my family better. Unfortunately, in 2014, those requests were denied. It's been a tough journey since then, dealing with ongoing health issues while trying to navigate what was supposed to be an easy transition into retirement.

Now, I’m standing up for what is rightfully mine—and that includes my dignity and the benefits promised as part of serving this country. 😤 The cost? Massive legal fees to fight it in court. That's a lot to ask from anyone, but every penny counts when you need justice done right.

I’m reaching out because we all deserve heroes who stand up for themselves just like they stood up for us during those difficult days on the battlefield. You can help me reclaim my dignity and ensure that no one who serves their country suffers through unnecessary struggles post-service.
