We are raising funds to help cover the cost of out-of-pocket therapy, medical visits, and essential supports for our daughter, Fiona. She is an autistic child who has been working through significant emotional and developmental challenges, and the care she needs is not fully covered by insurance.
A significant portion of our fundraising goal, $8,000, is for the deposit required simply to place Fiona on the waitlist for a specialized program for autistic young adults. The waitlist is many years long, which means families have to begin planning while their children are still young. Securing her place now would give Fiona an opportunity for greater independence, continued learning, support, and community as she grows into adulthood.
The remaining funds will help us maintain her current therapy and secure access to specialized educational and therapeutic resources that are not fully covered by insurance, while also helping with other necessary out-of-pocket medical and support expenses.
We are trying to give Fiona access to the care she needs now while also planning for a future in which she can be supported, included, and given every opportunity to thrive.
