TO KNOW TORRIE IS TO BE BLESSED BY TORRIE!
From Shelly:
I first met Torrie in 2005 when we hired her as a caregiver for my eight-year-old daughter, who has severe autism. Torrie was loyal, compassionate, and had an incredible, intuitive understanding of my daughter—despite her being non-verbal. Over the years, Torrie became much more than a caregiver; she became part of our family. My sister Sheila and I have remained close to her ever since, and today, we’re reaching out to ask for your help in lifting a burden from someone who has spent her life lifting others.
Despite facing decades of serious medical challenges—anorexia, major depression, and most recently, gastroparesis requiring a feeding tube that bypasses her stomach—Torrie has never stopped giving. She has devoted her life to loving, supporting, and advocating for individuals with disabilities, mental illness, and developmental delays. Even now, she continues to support her neighbors in the apartment complex where she lives—offering friendship, guidance, and care to those often overlooked.
From Sheila:
Hardship found Torrie early in life and has stayed close ever since. She has endured intense physical, emotional, and psychological battles, yet she continues to fight to be all that God created her to be. Through everything, she has remained kind, faithful, and full of heart.
Torrie’s health issues have been present since her teenage years, and although she has coped with remarkable resilience, aging has taken a toll. Her physical strength is waning, making it difficult to maintain steady work hours. She lives thoughtfully on a limited income and disability benefits, but unavoidable expenses—such as out-of-state medical travel, necessary dental care, or vet bills for her beloved emotional support animal, Lola—create real financial strain.
We are asking you to consider donating to Torrie’s GiveSendGo campaign. Your gift—no matter the size—would go a long way toward easing her burdens and showing her the same kindness and compassion she has so freely shared with others. A little help from many friends could meet her current needs, reduce her stress, and bring her much-needed peace of mind.
Thank you for considering a gift of encouragement and support. Torrie is a blessing in all of our lives, and we are deeply grateful for any way you can bless her in return.
With love and gratitude,
Shelly Boeve and Sheila Markvluwer

Hi this is Torrie,
recently, I spent 10 days at the University of Michigan Hospital to get me stabilized and increase my tube feeding rate. I was in a very dangerous place with my weight and physical stamina. It was a very difficult time for me physically and mentally and could not have done it without the support of my friends and family. Unbeknownst to me I developed a blood clot in my lung, and I’m now unplugged thinners and diuretics to read my body of excess fluid and the blood clot. This was discovered last week when I had severe swelling, and my sister insisted I go into the emergency room to get checked out thankfully I did and they found the pulmonary embolism. I feel very torn for reaching out for help, but I’m in a similar situation as loss of work has affected my ability to pay all of my bills without having enough breathing room for an emergency. Or any other financial need. It is my goal to return back to work, but first things first I need to restore my body and restore my strength before before I can put additional hours into work hours. My gastroparesis has fully taken over my body, and I am fully relying on tube feeds at night which leaves me time during the day for therapy in-home nursing and home health. I am able to work one day a week. This will be starting soon as I have regained some strength again. Thank you so much for those of you who have taken the time to follow my journey and to care about and support me along the way my heart feels every bit of this, and I am truly humbled and grateful. The Lord has brought so many beautiful people into my life and I would not be where I’m at today if I didn’t have all of you as part of my world.
