Michael Gary — Legal Fight for Justice Previously known as Gary Family fund
Originally established October 14, 2022 — Reopened September 2026
My name is Major Michael Gary. After more than 28 years of military service, I am continuing a legal battle arising from actions taken against me during the COVID-19 military mandate era.
In December 2020, I submitted a Religious Accommodation Request based upon my sincerely held Christian beliefs concerning COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
What followed changed the course of my military career.
I was subjected to an Army investigation, received a permanently filed General Officer Memorandum of Reprimand (GOMOR), and was removed from my full-time Active Guard and Reserve career. I believed then—and continue to contend—that serious procedural and administrative errors occurred in the actions taken against me.
I refused to give up.
What happened after I started this fundraiser
I originally opened this GiveSendGo on October 14, 2022, shortly after losing my full-time military career. Friends, family members, fellow service members, and people I had never met stepped forward to help my family. Together, supporters contributed $3,600.
I later suspended this fundraiser in 2024 while I continued fighting through the military administrative process.
A great deal has happened since then.
In 2025, the Army Board for Correction of Military Records (ABCMR) reviewed my case. By a 2–1 vote, the Board determined by a preponderance of the evidence that an injustice had occurred and directed significant corrective action.
Among the subsequent corrections, the permanently filed GOMOR and associated documents were removed from my military record, and my DD Form 214 was corrected. Those were significant victories.
But they did not end the fight!
Why I am reopening this fundraiser
I am reopening this GiveSendGo in September 2026 because my fight has entered another phase.
I am now a plaintiff in federal court:
Gary v. Department of the Army et al.
United States District Court for the District of Columbia
Civil Action No. 26-0272
My lawsuit concerns the implementation of the corrective relief I contend remains outstanding, including issues involving reinstatement, military records, promotion and date-of-rank treatment, constructive service, back pay and benefits, and related relief.
After years of administrative proceedings, records requests, research, correspondence, appeals, and now federal litigation, continuing this fight requires resources.
What your support will help fund
Contributions to this campaign will help me meet expenses associated with pursuing this legal fight, including legal consultations and representation where necessary, litigation and court-related expenses, records and FOIA work, document preparation and research, travel when required, and other expenses directly associated with pursuing implementation of the relief at issue in my case.
This is a personal fundraiser and is not a charitable organization. Contributions should not be assumed to be tax-deductible.
I have chosen to reopen my original 2022 campaign rather than erase that history and create a new one.
The original donations, prayers, comments, and shares remain here because they are part of this story.
Why I continue
For me, this has become about something larger than restoring a military record.
It is about accountability.
It is about whether a service member can use the administrative and judicial systems available to him, obtain corrective action, and then actually receive the relief that follows from those decisions.
Throughout this process, I have relied heavily upon my faith, my family, and the people who have stood beside me.
There have been many opportunities to simply walk away.
I haven't.
After more than two decades of military service, I believe this fight deserves to be carried through to its lawful conclusion.
How you can help
If you believe this effort is worth supporting, there are three important ways you can help: Donate. Share. Pray.
If you are able to contribute financially, your support will help me continue pursuing this case.
If you cannot contribute, sharing this fundraiser is enormously valuable. Getting this story in front of others helps more than you may realize.
And above everything else, please pray for my family, for wisdom and perseverance, and for justice to prevail.
To everyone who donated, prayed, shared this campaign, or stood beside my family beginning in 2022:
Thank you.
You helped us get this far.
Now, four years after this fundraiser began, the fight continues.
Different year. Different battlefield. Same mission.
Truth. Accountability. Justice.
