When Hurricane Helene took Western North Carolina by surprise, devastating multiple rural counties, there was one man who grabbed his boots, heavy equipment and went straight toward those in need… And hasn’t stopped since, never charging a penny.

Jake Jarvis is now known as a local hero for the countless hours, dollars and sweat he has poured into his beloved mountains. His time and devotion to the tight knit Bat Cave community even earned him a “locals onl license plate tag that adorns his ride with beaming pride.

This rugged veteran stops at nothing to show his love for his country and his fellow mountain folk, refusing any form of payment, even depleting his own funds before touching any donations the public may have offered.

Recently, his company, Precision Grading made a large purchase of a Bulldozer for 80,000 with big and exciting plans for the people still hurting from Helene. This was going to allow Jake and his team to ramp up their production and help even more people, faster! 

Jake’s team did their due diligence with their purchase, however, they still fell victim to professional scammers and lost the entire $80,000 with no bulldozer to show for it. 

Jake has been to the bank and has the authorities involved but it does not look likely he will be getting the funds returned. 

So many of us felt such anger for this man who has a heart of gold and is out there 7 days a week from sun up to (way past sun down)! He has sacrificed time with his family and his entire life to devote himself to these people. There truly are no words to convey the blood, sweat and tears this one man has poured into this community. My heart is broken for his heart. 

Whether you can give $1,or $10, Jake’s community would be so grateful. We want to show him our support. And if by some strange stretch of crazy he gets the money back, well then this would be icing on the cake to keep him serving the good folks of WNC.
