Our two‑year‑old daughter, Darcy, was diagnosed with cancer last week. We are reeling and adjusting to a new reality.

Everything changed in days. On Friday, 29 May 2026, we saw our GP after noticing a hard area in her abdomen. On Saturday, the hospital confirmed cancer. By Tuesday, 2 June, Darcy had already started chemotherapy. Her initial CT scan showed a tumour of approximately 6 × 7 cm.

Darcy’s treatment is intensive. Doctors expect daily hospital care for around 6–9 months. We live too far to return home during this period. Although there is government accommodation nearby, it is far from where we work.

I run two small businesses that serve our community: my psychotherapy clinic, where I see mothers and children for therapy, and the operations for our BJJ gym, D’jago. I care deeply about both. But right now, Darcy needs us—every chemo session, every scan, every difficult conversation with her doctors. When we are caregiving, we cannot work. When That means pausing my clinic and keeping the gym running on the lightest support, creating an immediate gap in income while fixed business costs continue.

We are self‑employed, and Darcy needs one of us with her at all times. When one of us is holding her hand, speaking with doctors, and navigating treatment, we are not earning. Day after day, those hours we gladly give to our daughter are hours we cannot give to our work—and the loss adds up quickly. We do not have an employer or investors behind us; every cost—from treatment to keeping our small businesses afloat—comes from our savings. We are proud of the work we have built and the passion behind it, but right now, being with Darcy comes first, even as it strains our income.

What your support covers:

Hospital treatment and transport for approximately nine months.

The income gap while one parent is caregiving full‑time.

Essential business costs to keep our clinic and gym alive in the background so we can return when Darcy is well.

Our goal and stretch goal

Target: HK$600,000 — covers core medical and transport needs and helps bridge the immediate income gap while we settle into treatment.

Stretch goal: HK$900,000 — extends support across more months of care, incidentals around the hospital, and a modest contingency for complications or delays.

If we are fortunate to exceed our stretch goal, any remaining funds after Darcy’s treatment will be donated to a Hong Kong children’s cancer charity.
