Living Expenses Post-Surgery: October

Huge response to my call at end of September. We’ve rolled into October, and the GiveSendGo goal automatically resets. I am re-sharing this with new $700 goal. Please read below for some good news, share this fundraiser on facebook, keep the prayers going, and of course donate even a little if you can. Thank you everyone, GODSPEED.

Good news: I’ve obtained employment! Thank you, Lord.

Less Good news: the corporate process of getting me officially working moves a little slow - I will not be starting immediately, as hoped. So in the meantime, I am still seeking additional work.

So many out here have been so generous and kind. There is a good chance that if you see this posting, you’ve already given tremendously to my family. Thank you. Please just share this posting on your facebook page, and say a short prayer for us. God Bless you and yours.

FROM SEPTEMBER 20th:

We seek assistance, hopefully one final time more, this mid-September.

The monthly goal is lowered for this month, to $1,225.

While we attempted to get temporary state and local government support for living expenses, multiple stumbling blocks have delayed the help from programs we know we qualify for. I am humbled at having been carried through August almost entirely by the anonymous generosity of friends, family, brothers and sisters in Christ, possibly strangers. Extended family has also come through for us, most unexpectedly. We are tremendously blessed by these facts.

HEALTH: I am doing well. Eye surgery was a Godsend, and I’m recovered. On September 22nd, we will have the consult planning further surgery I should have in October: muscles around left eye socket, especially eyelid - related to the “Horner’s Syndrome,” from nerve impacts inside my skull. Maybe they’ll recommend right side too.. I do not expect these surgeries to prevent me from working, as the first one certainly did.

WORK: I have multiple applications out locally - this is something we’d welcome prayer on. I am very hopeful to have at least regular part-time work in October. I have helped my boys start a mowing gig on the side - but with all the rain the last week, this has not brought in the gas money for a minute! However, our lawnmowing has been a Blessing overall. DWIGHT BROS MOWING is the name! We’re also trying to sell items on ebay and FB Marketplace. But we ask for prayers on these things, and still we ask for donations to get from here to mid-October.

GOV’T AID: This has been tough. We have only ever gotten Food Stamps before, until getting Medicare in January - we were not super familiar with acquiring the kinds of help we’ve reached out for this time: Rent, Utilities, emergency cash, etc.. NE DHHS is utterly swamped, extremely difficult to get in touch with. They are admittedly over 1-month behind on applications for aid!! We have gone round and round, and it is slow going. We even lost food stamps for an entire month because of a mistake and it takes 2-3 weeks to just talk to them. This ate into our donations too - not having the food stamps. We have also been denied things we were assured we qualified for - and know we qualified for - but we hadn’t learned “the hoops” yet. We are trying again for certain programs to help - but none of this will materialize until mid-October at earliest. By which time, Lord willing, I shall be employed again!

Please share this fundraising round. Number of shares is directly proportional to percentage of goal reached - really helps alot. Any, ANY donation amount does help us. Please prayerfully consider helping again, if able. We are trying to survive a couple more weeks here. Thank you all again.

PRAYERS:

*Beth is going through physical therapy again - we pray for regeneration and full healing. AMEN.

*Job for Jared will happen. AMEN.

*Next surgery will be as good as the first! AMEN.

*God will use us. AMEN.

*NE DHHS will work out for us. AMEN.

*Ample Donations this round, again. AMEN.

ORIGINAL AUGUST 2026 CALL:

Hello, everyone. I am reaching out here now just ahead of some eye surgery. My health saga is nearing a completion, but we are in need of help for basic living expenses for monthly survival. Our personal resources have reached the limit, and I am unable on my own to sustain my family through August. UNMC Eye Institute scheduled me in June for surgery at beginning of August. Recovery will be 3-5 weeks. While I had expected to be employed before this surgery, I have not yet received any job offers on my attempts. At this point, even under best-case scenarios, I would likely not receive a first paycheck until September at the earliest. There is also a fair chance we’ll be doing a second surgery. Then there is the Genetic Testing upcoming at UNMC as well — secured in November of 2025 (!) but waitlisted until this Fall 2026.

Medicaid will pay for these very expensive appointments for now, and we have secured sufficient SNAP benefits too. What we need help with is basic subsistence - our Lot Rent, the Utilities, minor costs to run our Honda as school starts up again.

Not counting food, our monthly subsistence amounts to $1,950/month, at minimum. We are publishing this fundraiser as a monthly goal for now, as the chances are good we will likely be facing the same dire situation come September: losing our home of 14 years. That’s where we are at, to lay it bare.

We are placing this request in Our Lord’s Mighty Hands: if He moves your heart to help, we know His people will do just that.

Prayers of The Faithful are requested:

That my Eye Surgery, and the recovery especially, will go smoothly and heal quickly. That the correction will be sufficient to erase most of my migraines, and prevent the extreme double-vision episodes that stop me from being able to drive my family safely or even read a computer screen too long. Please pray that the second surgery will not even be necessary.

*Pray also that Christ’s Love and Mercy continues to transform my little family, drawing us closer to Him and to eachother, to set our paths straight, to overcome pain, trauma, and sorrow, to strengthen our courage and erase all fear. Finally, please pray for my Wife Elizabeth’s own health. We would really wish a miraculous reversal of her spinal issues; we would really wish to avoid any back surgery or “fusing” of her lower vertebrae. We ask this all in the name Christ Jesus. Thank you.

GODSPEED
