Shasta County has been in the spotlight for leading the charge for local sovereignty and election reform in the state and in the nation.  

Measure B is a charter amendment that was voted on during the June 2nd election and won with over 55% of the vote. This measure will enable us to have voter ID, hand counting, one day elections, and other necessary reforms to ensure election security and transparency. 

After surviving two court challenges prior to the election, CA Attorney General Rob Bonta and Secretary of State Shirley Weber filed suit to prevent this law from going into effect and they have assembled a team of six other attorneys to assist them. Time is of the essence because their goal is to get Measure B struck down by August 24, before the midterm election. The election has not yet been certified (expected July 3) or chaptered with the Secretary of State. 

In a remarkable move, the Board of Supervisors (BOS) have chosen not to defend the rights of the voters in Shasta County. 

This means that the citizens are left to defend themselves.
