SavingRaven: Help Give This Puppy a Pain-Free Life
Meet Raven, a beautiful Belgian Malinois puppy with an incredible personality and an even bigger heart.
Raven embodies so much of what makes the Belgian Malinois breed special—she is exceptionally intelligent, confident, loyal, eager to work, and always ready to learn. She has the high drive and enthusiasm you would expect from a Malinois, but what makes Raven especially unique is the incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate nature that comes along with it. Raven loves to train, play, explore, and engage with the world around her. Unfortunately, at only 5 months old, Raven's active puppy life came to an unexpected halt.
Raven began experiencing severe pain in her back legs. Within days, she was struggling to stand, refusing food and water, and crying in pain. After emergency veterinary care and multiple evaluations, we received a heartbreaking diagnosis: Raven has severe congenital bilateral hip dysplasia.
Because of the severity of her condition, Raven was referred to Ohio State University (OSU) Veterinary Medical Center, where specialists determined that she needs two total hip replacements. Waiting until she is older is not an option—her bones are already beginning to grow incorrectly to compensate for her damaged hips, making treatment time-sensitive.
The Good News
Raven's two hip replacements are expected to cost approximately $20,000. In an incredible act of generosity, a benefactor has offered to cover the full cost of Raven's first hip replacement surgery, scheduled for October 27th. We are beyond grateful. Raven now has a chance—but we still need help getting her across the finish line.
Our Goal: $10,000
Raven will still need her second total hip replacement to have the pain-free, active life she deserves. We have also accumulated more than $2,500 in veterinary expenses from emergency visits, diagnostic testing, X-rays, specialized injections, medications, and travel for her care.
Funds raised will help cover:
- Raven's second total hip replacement
- Post-operative care, medications, and rehabilitation
- Existing veterinary expenses related to her diagnosis and treatment
Raven is still just a puppy. Her mind wants to run, train, play, and explore—but right now, her hips won't allow her to do those things without pain. These surgeries will give her the opportunity to finally live the active, happy life she was meant to have.
