RWANDA RISING: DOCUMENTARY FUNDRAISER
A Journey Beyond the Shadows of the Past
In 2024, I traveled to Rwanda with nothing but a small camera and a huge amount of faith. I had no crew, no permits, and no guarantee that anyone would trust me with their stories. But people opened their doors and their hearts. Mothers, fathers, business owners, survivors, the entire community welcomed me with open arms.
I filmed what I could.
I listened.
I cried.
I left Rwanda knowing one thing for certain: I have to go back.
THE VISION: WINTER 2026
In the winter of 2026, I will return to Rwanda with a professional team of two cameramen, full production permits, and a clear, powerful story to capture.
This time, I know exactly who I’m filming.
I’ve heard their stories.
I’ve seen their resilience.
Now it’s time to share them with the world.
This documentary, Rwanda Rising, will challenge everything people think they know about Rwanda. Yes, the country carries a painful past, but it is also the safest country in Africa, one of the cleanest cities in the world, and home to some of the most hope-filled, forward-thinking people on the planet. Rwanda is known as the Land of 1000 Hills, but it’s so much more than its landscape… it’s a testament to forgiveness, rebuilding, and unity.
WHY THIS MATTERS
Genocide has happened throughout history.
Education, empathy, and storytelling are some of the strongest tools we have to prevent it from happening again.
This film will:
THE GOAL
To complete this project, I am raising:
$70,000
This will cover:
Every dollar goes directly toward bringing this documentary to life.
DONOR RECOGNITION
Everyone who contributes, including those who supported my very first trip, will be listed in the film’s Special Thanks section.
Names will appear in order of largest contribution first, but no amount is too small. Truly, every single donation matters.
This film will not be credited to a studio or a corporation.
It will be built by the hands of people who believe these stories deserve to be heard.
IN ADDITION
When I meet the fundraising goal, any additional funds will go towards building homes in Shyorongi, Rwanda with the outreach program through a local church that I have previous volunteered with. $5,000 can rebuild an entire home, hire 10-20 locals and change a life.
WITH GRATITUDE
Thank you for reading, sharing, praying, and if possible, for giving.
Thank you for believing that light can rise from darkness.
And thank you for helping me tell a story that the world needs to see.
Rwanda Rising begins with people like you.
Much love,
Alexandria
