Thanksgiving Across America: A Seat at the Table for Every Refugee Family
Two homelands. Shared faith. One Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is about gratitude, family, and a table with room for one more. For many refugee families who have just arrived in America, that table can feel out of reach. They are new to the country and to its traditions. Some have no cookware yet, and some have no family nearby. Many are carrying the cost of starting over.
Through The Bridge to Liberty, we are launching Thanksgiving Across America. Every registered refugee family receives a $15 grocery gift card for each person in their household. The amount is the same in every state, so a family in Ohio is treated the same as a family in Texas. A family of six receives $90.
Each family chooses what works best for them:
- Cook at home. They get a gift card and a simple shopping list for a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
- Buy it prepared. Some families have no pots, pans, or oven. A ready-made meal from their local grocery store lets them celebrate anyway.
- Be hosted. Our American Neighbor Network volunteers open their homes and welcome refugee guests to their own tables. Being welcomed in person is the best gift of all.
The gift cards go to the refugees themselves, not to their sponsors or hosts. Our goal is to lift the financial burden for families who are already carrying a great deal.
Sign-ups run October 21 to November 8. Winners of the random drawing are announced soon after, and every gift card is sent by email in time for the holiday.
Where your gift goes
- $15 feeds one person.
- $60 feeds a family of four.
- $90 feeds a family of six.
- Anything beyond the $15 gift cards goes toward more families. We are not putting a cap on how many can sign up.
Please give, and please share this page. Help us show these families that they are welcome here.
