Help a Mother Stay by Her Son’s Side During His Fight for Life ❤️
At just 36 years old, my cousin is fighting for his life. What began as a devastating medical emergency has turned into a battle none of us could have imagined. After being hospitalized in Bangor with severe liver and kidney failure, his condition became so critical that our family feared we might lose him.
Thankfully, he has continued fighting, and we’ve been given a glimmer of hope. He has now been transferred to Mass General Hospital in Boston, where he is being evaluated for placement on the liver transplant list. While we are incredibly grateful that a transplant may be possible, there are still so many uncertainties and a long, difficult road ahead.
Through every frightening moment, his mom has been right by his side. Like any mother, she wants nothing more than to be there for her son, to hold his hand, advocate for him, and make sure he never feels alone through this unimaginable experience.
Being there comes with challenges that extend far beyond the emotional toll. She has already spent countless days traveling from Hancock to Bangor, taking time away from work to be at the hospital. Now, with her son in Boston, the financial burden is growing.
To make staying close to him as affordable as possible, she plans to stay at her son’s home in Saco, Maine, and take the train into Boston each day. Even with this more economical option, transportation alone will cost approximately $60 per day, compared to the $150–$200 per night she would otherwise be spending on a hotel.
On top of these expenses, her request for leave from work has currently been denied. She is continuing to explore her options, but the possibility of lost income adds another layer of stress and uncertainty during an already heartbreaking time.
No mother should have to choose between being there for her critically ill child and worrying about how she will financially make it through.
We are creating this fundraiser to help ease some of that burden. Donations will go toward transportation to and from Boston, travel-related expenses, and helping offset potential lost income and other financial hardships as she navigates the days, weeks, and potentially months ahead.
We know that times are difficult for many families, and we don’t take anyone’s generosity for granted. Whether you’re able to donate, share this fundraiser, or simply keep our family in your prayers, every bit of support means more than we can put into words.
Our hope is to give her one less thing to worry about so she can focus on what matters most: being a mom and being there for her son.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us surround this family with love, hope, and support during one of the most difficult chapters of their lives. ❤️
