Supporting Michelle's Health Journey
If you're reading this, thank you for taking the time to learn about my story. I've always been a private person, so opening up about my health hasn't been easy. But navigating a cancer diagnosis at just 35 years old has taught me that I can't do everything on my own. Without employment income and with the financial burden of my health journey growing, I'm reaching out for support during a time when I need it more than ever.
My Story
Looking back, I believe God was preparing me for what lay ahead. In February 2026, I instinctively stepped away from social media and began spending more time alone, becoming more inwardly focused. At the time, I couldn't explain why, but now I see that season as a time when God was drawing me closer to Him before I understood what was coming. Even before my diagnosis, I had been carrying so much stress that I felt depleted in body, mind, and spirit.
Receiving the phone call confirming my cancer diagnosis was a shock I don't think I can fully put into words. Having watched my father go through cancer treatment, I knew how frightening that journey could be, but nothing prepared me for facing it myself at 35. Suddenly, I was the one confronting uncertainty, difficult decisions, and questions about my future.
One of the hardest parts has been not knowing why this happened. Both my father and I tested negative on genetic testing, leaving me with more questions than answers. I may never know all the factors that contributed to my diagnosis, so I'm learning to live with that uncertainty while focusing on my health, the decisions ahead, and my faith in God.
Navigating My Health Journey
Since my diagnosis, I've spent countless hours researching, attending consultations, praying, and exploring different approaches to care. I've been actively pursuing alternative and holistic therapies alongside medical monitoring and supportive care. These therapies have become an important part of my journey, but they also come with significant out-of-pocket expenses.
I'm also exploring additional medical options, including consultations regarding cryoablation and immunotherapy. I'm seeking to better understand what may be appropriate for my circumstances, including the potential benefits, risks, and limitations of different approaches.
One of my most personal considerations has been how to approach conventional treatment. At 35, I hope to have a family of my own one day. The potential effects of surgery and long-term hormone therapy on my fertility, hormones, and quality of life are things I've had to weigh carefully. Through research, prayer, reflection, and open communication with my medical team, I'm working through these deeply personal decisions.
I understand that others may make different choices, and I respect that. I'm trying to approach my health with intention, faith, and careful consideration while remaining open to reassessing my options as my circumstances evolve.
As serious as this diagnosis is, I don't believe it defines me or dictates my future. This journey has brought me into a deeper, more personal relationship with Jesus. I don't have all the answers, but I feel closer to Him than ever. I'm learning to trust Him through the uncertainty, and I believe my story is far from over. I still have dreams for my future, and I'm holding onto hope.
Why I'm Asking for Support
Alongside my health challenges, I'm navigating an ongoing legal battle with my current employer that has left me without employment income. Managing this uncertainty while facing a cancer diagnosis has made an already difficult season even more challenging.
Without a steady income, covering the costs of consultations, imaging, and the therapies I've been pursuing has become increasingly difficult. I'm hoping to raise $12,500 to help cover:
- Medical expenses: Appointments, consultations, imaging, and related costs.
- Holistic and supportive therapies: Ongoing expenses for therapies I've been pursuing, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).
- Exploring additional treatment options: Consultations and evaluations regarding cryoablation, immunotherapy, and other potentially appropriate approaches.
- Essential living expenses: Basic necessities while I'm without employment income and navigating this chapter of my life.
These funds would help ease the financial pressure and give me more room to focus on my health, seek informed guidance, and navigate the road ahead.
Learning to Accept Support
Asking for help doesn't come naturally to me. I've always preferred to handle things privately and independently, so sharing my diagnosis more openly has required me to step outside my comfort zone.
This journey has reminded me how much a simple act of kindness can mean during a difficult season. A thoughtful message, a check-in, a donation, or a prayer can offer comfort in ways that are difficult to explain. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has reached out, listened, or offered encouragement.
I'm learning that it's okay to let people who care about me show up for me, too. If you're able to contribute, any amount would mean so much. There's absolutely no pressure or obligation, and sharing this fundraiser with someone who may wish to help is also appreciated.
More than anything, I would deeply appreciate your prayers—for wisdom as I navigate my care, strength through the difficult days, financial provision, and continued guidance from God. Please pray that I remain grounded in faith, peace, and hope, and continue growing closer to Jesus through this journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story and allowing me to share this part of my life with you. I'm deeply grateful for every donation, prayer, message, and gesture of kindness. Your support means more than you know, and I'm thankful for the reminder that I don't have to walk this journey alone.
With love,
Michelle
