Help Mario Keep His Home During His Hardest Chapter
My name is Mario, and I never imagined I would find myself in a position where I needed to ask strangers for help. I've spent more than 15 years building a career as a Software Quality Assurance Engineer, working hard to support myself and believing that, no matter how difficult life becomes, perseverance will eventually open a door.
But sometimes, even when you do everything you can, life takes a turn you aren't prepared for.
Today, I'm facing the possibility of losing my home. I'm asking for help because, despite everything I've tried, I can no longer get through this crisis on my own.
How I Got Here
My last work contract ended in March. Since then, I've been searching desperately for another opportunity to put my experience to work.
I've applied for jobs through LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Jobgether, Indeed, and other platforms. I've sent applications, followed leads, and kept searching, hoping that the next opportunity would come before my savings ran out.
I've also taken whatever small jobs and errands I could find to help cover my expenses. I used my savings to pay for necessities while continuing to look for steady employment.
I truly believed I would find another job in time.
But the opportunities haven't come, and my savings are gone.
The small jobs I can find are no longer enough to cover my basic expenses. I've fallen behind on rent, and now I face the very real possibility of losing the place I call home.
My immediate goal is to raise ₡821,343 CRC which is $1,800 USD, to help catch up on my rent and prevent eviction before December 1.
I'm still applying for jobs. I'm still looking for opportunities. I haven't given up on rebuilding my career or becoming financially independent again. But I need help bridging the gap between where I am today and the day I can support myself again.
Without that help, I risk losing my home before I have the chance to turn things around.
While Facing Eviction, I'm Also Preparing to Say Goodbye to My Best Friend
As difficult as this situation already is, I've also received heartbreaking news about my beloved Doberman, Galia.
Galia has been by my side for eight years. Through ordinary days and difficult times, she's been my companion, my comfort, and a constant presence in my life. When life has been hard, simply having her beside me has made a difference that words can't fully describe.
She's not just my dog. She's family.
Recently, Galia was diagnosed with a very aggressive bone cancer affecting her hip and spine. Knowing what she's going through, and knowing that I must prepare to say goodbye to a companion who has shared eight years of my life, is a heartbreak I can hardly put into words.
And I have another dog, Kira, a lovely rescue who also depends on me.
Kira deserves the same things every animal deserves: love, safety, and a home where she can feel secure. Both dogs are an important part of my life, and they depend on me to care for them.
They don't understand the financial difficulties I'm facing or the threat hanging over our home. They only know the life we've shared and the place where they feel safe.
The thought of losing my home while facing the loss of Galia is devastating. And through all of this, I still have a responsibility to Kira, who needs me to keep going.
I never imagined I would have to face all these things at once.
What Your Help Would Mean
I'm not asking anyone to solve every problem in my life. I'm asking for a chance to get through this immediate crisis without losing my home.
My goal is to raise $1,800 to help bring my rent up to date and give me time to continue searching for work. Every dollar raised will go toward this immediate housing need.
This assistance would give me some breathing room during an incredibly difficult period. It would help me hold on to my home while I work toward finding another position, restoring my financial stability, and returning to supporting myself through my career or whatever suitable work I can find.
I've spent more than 15 years working, learning, and building a professional life. I still want to work. I still want to rebuild. I still believe I can find my way forward.
I'm not giving up on that future. I'm simply at a point where I cannot get there without some help.
