Our family is asking for your prayers, support, and help as Michael Robinson Jr., affectionately known as “MJ,” faces the most difficult battle of his life.
MJ is currently facing capital murder charges involving the deaths of two individuals. These are incredibly serious allegations, and MJ maintains his innocence. While an accusation can make headlines in an instant, it does not tell the complete story of the person standing behind it.
Before this case, MJ had spent his life doing what so many parents pray their children will do. He excelled academically, became a scholar, attended college, earned his degree, and continued his education in graduate school. He lived as a productive citizen and had never been in trouble with the law, not even receiving a traffic violation.
Today, that same young man is fighting for his name, his freedom, and his future.
Every person accused of a crime deserves the opportunity to fully and fairly defend themselves. A case of this magnitude requires experienced legal representation, investigation, expert assistance, research, preparation, and countless other resources. Those expenses can quickly become overwhelming for any family.
We have established this campaign with a goal of $50,000 to help cover legal expenses associated with MJ's defense and the financial burden this case has placed on his family. Funds may be used for attorney fees, investigators, expert witnesses, court-related costs, records, case preparation, and other necessary defense expenses. Any funds remaining after MJ's legal obligations are resolved will be used to help the family recover from the financial impact of this ordeal and begin rebuilding their lives.
We are not asking anyone to decide this case based on a fundraiser or a headline. That belongs in the courtroom, where the evidence can be fully examined and MJ can exercise his right to defend himself.
We are simply asking that he have the resources necessary to do that.
For those who know MJ personally, we ask you to remember the young man you know: the student, the graduate, the scholar, the family member, and the friend. For those who do not know him, we ask you to remember that behind every headline is a human being and a family whose lives have been changed forever.
