Chubby's Grub & Pub is raising money to help with operating costs, personal living expenses and to help mitigate the negative press the business has gotten. The owner is a J6er who was falsely accused of a crime he did not commit. Donations will help cover operating costs and bills. Thank you for considering a donation and for standing with Chubby's Grub & Pub and its owner. Your support would mean so much.
George Tanios, father of 4, lives in West Virginia and owned a Sandwich U for 18 years. George was in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
George was arrested in March, 2021 and was charged with 12 felonies. He was one of two people accused by the Justice Department and the news media for the death of Capital Police Officer Brian Sicknick. Various news media later retracted their initial account of what happened to Sicknick—that he was bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher. In April, 2021 the D.C. Medical Examiner ruled Sicknick suffered no internal or external injuries and that he had died of natural causes.
Prosecutors sought pretrial detention for George and D.C. District Court Judge Thomas Hogan, agreed, denying George’s release from jail. In August, 2021, after an appeal by George, the D.C. Circuit Court overturned Hogan’s order to keep George behind bars and George was released on strict home detention orders.
In July, 2022 prosecutors dropped all 12 felony assault charges against George.
In order to end this nightmare and avoid a D.C. trial with a D.C. jury, George pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of 1) entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds, and 2) disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds. He was sentenced on January 27, 2023 to the five months of time served, twelve months supervised release, a $50 special assessment and restitution of $500.
George’s attorney wrote, “…..he (George) did not enter the U.S. Capitol building. He did not destroy property. He did not engage in violence. He did not assault law enforcement officers, and he did not plan to do so.” So, for two misdemeanors, George spent over 5 months in jail, lost his ability to earn a living for years and lost his restaurant business.
