My name is Karen and I started to crochet at age 8, and knitting. The  Knitting I mastered  by age 10, but when I was 12 my essential tremors began when I would use my hands. They weren't as steady, but I didn't stop knitting. I gave up crochet about 5 years ago, because it would take me long to hold the hook steady, but I still teach both knit and crochet. When trying to crochet it took me longer to steady my hand to create stitches, and knitting is easier on my hands because, of the needles, and flow of the yarn. I may be getting older but, I'm not letting my tremors stopping me from knitting, and teaching others . I'm trying to get funding to set up a studio so, my supplies, inventory, and students have a place. I have my Facebook Shop called The Crafty Place, and a few regular customers and students, just not like I'm used to. I need to be able to have a studio to do it all from online teaching and in person. Essential Tremors is inherited from a family member, and can start affecting you from child to adult. In recent years and research I've found over 10 million people so far have essential Tremors and I'm looking to do a knitting series called Knitting with Essential Tremors, for people who say they want to knit and are too nervous to learn. I want people to know I have Essential Tremors and I'm a knitter with over 40 years of experience. This is God's gift for me in this life to share my talents with steady  hand nervous people. My tremors you don't see until I lift a glass in public, or eat in public. if you see someone shaking encourage them to focus on their goal of fine motor skills with their hands , don't let them give up. My ultimate goal in sharing my love of fiber art is to teach and encourage people to use their God given abilities, and teach them to overcome obstacles while learning to create, even with a handicap. Praying for those who are afraid to take a chance on someone who struggles doing the simplest of tasks. May God bless you.
