The Vision: Bringing The Other Side to Life
Our end goal is to produce a full feature-length version of The Other Side and get it in front of thousands of people. The goal with this movie is to show there is freedom, redemption, and forgiveness for anyone who has partaken, been hurt by, or affected by abortion through Jesus Christ.
The Other Side follows a boyfriend and girlfriend who discover they’re pregnant and face the decision of whether to keep their baby or have an abortion. The story follows both possible outcomes, showing how that decision shapes their lives and how it affects the mother, father, and the child. In both paths, they encounter Christ. At the heart of this film is the message that no matter what someone has done, what they’ve been through, or how deeply they’re hurting, they are not beyond the reach of God’s love.
I believe unborn life is worth protecting, and that conviction is part of why I’m making this film. I also want to speak to the person carrying shame, grief, or pain from an abortion—whether they made that decision themselves, were involved in it, or have been affected by it. I want them to know that their story doesn’t have to end there.
The Next Step: A $50,000 Proof of Concept
To work toward that feature-length film, our current goal is to raise $50,000 to create a high-quality proof of concept. This will be a few carefully selected scenes that introduce the story and demonstrate the performances, emotion, and production quality we envision for the full movie. These scenes will help us share the vision with people and organizations who could help bring the feature to life.
We made the original short film in January 2024 for just under $1,500, with a small team and a lot of faith. I’m grateful for everyone who gave their time and talents to make it possible. Now, I want to build on that beginning and give this story the resources it needs to take the next step.
The $50,000 will help cover:
- Pre-production: Planning, casting, securing locations, and preparing for the shoot.
- Production: Cast and crew, gear rentals, locations, meals, and other needs on set.
- Post-production: Editing, sound, music, and color finishing.
- Marketing and outreach: Getting the proof of concept in front of potential supporters, producers, and distribution partners who could help us move toward the feature.
The $5 million mentioned in the fundraising video is the larger vision for producing, marketing, and distributing the full feature. The goal of this campaign is to fund the $50,000 proof of concept that will help us work toward that vision.
My faith in Christ is at the heart of this project, but I want the story to reach people who may not share that faith, too. My prayer is that they will connect with these characters, see the hope woven into their story, and be open to what God might speak through it.
