Mom's Tears - Save Our Home

How we handle disappointment and life altering circumstances defines not just our choices going forward. It also defines our impact on the world around us.

Over the years the best I can offer in difficult situations is bringing a calm and peaceful approach to every situation. I've seen that as one of the best skills I've acquired in many challenging environments, pulling freight these last ten years.

I have the middle of February from the time of this post before the bank files foreclosure. Last month we thankfully received some very unexpected financial support. At that point we were faced with just the mortgage payment. Now the bank is requiring we be completely caught up on three months of missed payments plus the house insurance. I'll be selling everything I have in a last ditch effort to give me just one more month. Mom's put her sleep number bed up on market place as well.

I took myself off the road back in August, my BP was 170 over 90 and climbed up to 190. A dentist visit for a tooth extraction turned into a life changing experience. My wife being a nurse had this look on her face I'll never forget. That put the fear of God into me. I'd struggled every year since covid2020, I've changed careerers multiple times, pushed myself more and more chasing a dream of bringing my wife to the states from the Philippines. Now 6 years later from the time we started talking, 3 years and 6 months into our marriage, last August we finally met each other, in person. We married online due to the covid troubles. She cried so hard I thought she'd absolutely come unglued. She clung to me all the way from the airport to the hotel. A part of myself was left in Cebu August 16th when i departed for the return trip to the States. We both cried as my bags were being checked in. From April 2024 til July of 2025 I was home off the road a total of 12 days. Only 8 days home from April to April in an effort to keep everything going at home while I was away for two weeks. I wasn't supposed to come back home and start looking for another career. While picking up odd remodeling jobs up thru October, everything was falling apart slowly.

Looking at foreclosures nationwide, I know I'm not alone, this is a growing trend. I'm just one person looking for a small hope that maybe this trucker can get out of the hole he's stuck in. I've found some remodeling work in the past few months, and recently landing a job hanging sheet metal. And I'll keep plugging away at what I can find at this point.

Since August I've lost close to 50lbs, and the BP has gone down from being so high, even with that accomplishment, i need to lose at least 40lbs more before even thinking about OTR and longhaul again. But in my heart I couldn't live with myself if I went back too soon. We have a responsibility to the public to stay safe out there, as I've said before, truck driving is a no contact sport. There should never be any accidents, much less lives lost due to a drivers health and or fatigue. A responsible driver will pull over, park, and take a nap when he's nodding off behind the wheel. The load and on-time delivery isn't worth the lives if anyone, commercial motor careers or other wise. I'm fully prepared to accept what ever comes next, the bright side of all of this I have the peace of mind knowing when faced with a tough choice, I'd not choose to continue down a dangerous path that would negatively impact other Americans on the roadways.

My heart is heavy today as I think about my mom's tears and her fears of leaving me behind. It's a painful reminder that sometimes life throws curveballs we never expect, and it hits you right in the gut—where your dreams and hopes are shattered into pieces. But amidst this whirlwind of chaos and despair, there's one thing I know for sure: We don't have to face these storms alone.

My mom and I have lived in our little haven of a home for 10 years now, creating countless memories that we cherish deeply—from laughter-filled nights around the dinner table to watching sunsets from our front porch. But with foreclosure looming just over the horizon, it feels like all those precious moments could slip through our fingers if I can't find a way to turn this ship around.

I've spent years pulling freight and facing countless challenges in my life—each one teaching me valuable lessons on how to navigate difficult times without losing hope or peace of mind. And while these hard-earned skills have helped me handle the ups and downs, right now I feel like a juggler trying desperately to keep all the balls up in the air before they crash down around us.

In just about two weeks, we face losing everything—our home, our security, even some of our most cherished possessions. But what hurts more than anything is knowing my mom might have to leave behind her beloved house and move in with family, a thousand miles away from where she's built her life here. And that thought alone brings tears to both of us.

So I'm reaching out for your help—to be the bridge over troubled waters we so desperately need right now. This last-ditch effort might just save our home and keep my mom in a space filled with love, memories, and sunshine she loves so much. And maybe most importantly, it would give her one more month of independence away from family members who have supported us through thick and thin but still live far away.

I believe that when we come together as human beings, there's nothing we can't overcome—together. So if you feel led to help in any way or share our story with others, please know how much it means to me and my mom for your support right now. We need the kindness of strangers more than ever before because sometimes life doesn't go according to plan, but together we can face down uncertainty and find strength within ourselves—and each other.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering supporting us in any way possible. It could mean everything to my mom and me right now! 🌟💖✨
