Keeping our family together in Peru

Valance Bohm and I met in October 2018 through a Christian dating app, I was in Peru at that time living with my mom, and he was in the United States.

After so many disapointments in my adult life, I thought why not so I made a profile and started looking at other profiles when I saw Valance, I thought he was cute and interesting so I said Hi, and just like that our story started to develop in an amazing way that only God could have orchestrated. Since then, it's been a wonderful adventure getting to know this man and enjoying life together.

After following through with all the legal processes for me to be able to move with Valance to the State of Maine in the United States, I arrived at the Bangor airport in Maine in February, 2020 with a K1 fiance visa. A week later we had a beautiful wedding ceremony at The Mansion Church officiated by Pastor Terry Dinkins. 4 months after that, we found out we were expecting our first baby. Then one thing after another, buying a car, buying a house, having another baby, we got so distracted and busy that we kept putting aside getting my Greencard, thinking we weren't doing anything wrong by just waiting for the right time. At the time, I was a stay at home mom so I really had no desire/need to get a job since Valance's job was more than sufficient to support us.

After the mess that was Covid, in September 2024 we filed for the Adjustment of status. A few months after that we received a RFE(request for evidence) letter requesting from us a few things, one of them and the most pertinent was an updated medical examination which required covid vaccinations, we refused the vaccines as there wasn't sufficient research on them to make an informed decision about them at the time. After doing some research on how to proceed we decided to wait and not do anything.

On February 3rd, 2025, we recieved a notification letter saying that our petition had been denied and I had 33 days to leave the country. We were floored and simultaneously heartbroken. We weren't criminals. I had abided by all laws since arriving in the United States. We payed all our taxes and Mortgage. My husband and I had spent those last two years creating a beautiful garden, but we had to make the very difficult decision to leave everything we had worked so hard for and give away what we could, sell our house and leave.

After arriving in peru with the whole family, Valance, myself, Susita and Cervantes(Seraphine wasn't born yet), we moved into my mothers house and shortly before Valance returned to the US before his legal stay in peru was up I got pregnant with my 8 month old Seraphine. 2025 was full of some much sorrow that I will never be able to put it into words. Our family had to be separated for a long period, because my husband had to go back and work in the United States to be able to provide for our family here, while still trying to get my greencard. The pain of having to go through life in this situation was so immeasurable that we decided we couldn't do it anymore.

So we now live in Oxapampa, Peru, and It will be 7 years of marriage in February of next year. We now have three beautiful children, Susita 5 years old, Cervantes 3 years old and Seraphine 8 months old who was born in Peru and she is the reason why my husband has been able to obtain a Peruvian residency. My husband had to leave his country, leaving behind his car and well paying job, and even though is making a huge effort learning Spanish, he still struggles as the opportunities for him and me are not the best here, with no college degrees and no experience. We have been trying to start a business here, but so far we haven't had much success, and as our bills and expenses keep coming, including rent, a loan, my daughter's school, and utilities, we are in desperate need, and my husband going back and having our family separated again is not an option. My husband is not lazy, we just need some help temporarily until we can get on our feet.

We have been praying and are asking God and other believers to find some charity in thier hearts to help us with this situation. Any donations to this fundraiser will help cover rent, school for our children, food and utilities. Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer our family. May God bless you.
