Charlie Rohr & Family

On September 10, Charlie (17 yrs) was diagnosed with a tumor on his frontal lobe. On September 11, he underwent brain surgery at Children’s Mercy in KC. Donations will help with any costs incurred as Charlie recovers from surgery (including recovering his speech and motor skills) and his family’s housing, meals, and travel expenses.

Most importantly, keep praying for Charlie!

Note: Thank you so much for the generous donations for the initial DoorDash collection. Over $1500 was donated! If you already donated, consider using the “Send a Prayer” option below to send a note to the Rohr family.

Update 9/19

Our family is beginning this 54 Day Miracle Novena tonight. We invite you, if you feel called, to join us.

Update 9-16

Dear Friends, we are in need of a miracle.

Before we left the hospital, an oncologist gave us a cancer diagnosis. The cancer is called Astrocytoma grade 4. They would like to do radiation, but he said it isn't survivable. It's been a difficult day. We are gutted.

We are praying for the intercession of Fr. Kapaun. We were also given a relic of Fr. Kapaun. Thank you so much! 🩷 It has a prayer on the back we will be praying daily. We also will finish the St. Joseph of Cupertino and plan to begin the Miracle Novena after.

We believe in miracles and we know our God is capable of the impossible.

Charlie feels even better today. His speech is better and faster. His right hand is moving easier.

Our focus is Charlie healing from surgery before addressing the diagnosis.

I won't be updating as often as we support Charlie in his recovery from surgery. Thank you for your continued prayers. They are indispensable.

Update 9/15

We talked to Dr. Haynes(nuerosurgeon )this morning. I asked her what size the tumor was and she told me it was the size of a small lemon. She said progress is different for each individual. So time and prayer will help Charlie fully recover.

After meeting with all the therapists and other members of Charlie's care team, he is being released to go home tomorrow! Thank you Jesus! 😭🩷🙏

The lack of sleep has caught up to Charlie and he is very exhausted. We are praying that the car ride home is uneventful.

Many prayers have been answered!

His bodily functions have regulated.

He was able to move his right hand a little bit more today. His pain meds have been greatly reduced. His appetite remains strong.

I feel like this wouldn't be possible without your prayers! 🤗🙏

We are asking prayers for..

*Charlie to be able to rest better at home.

*Benign pathology

*Healing of the two spots on his brain.

*For Charlie to have hope and not be discouraged. He is frustrated with how slow his speech is returning. Although it's actually normal for this surgery, he just wants to be able to have a conversation.

*The speech pathologist has concerns about his swallowing, she is concerned that he might be mildly aspirating when he swallows liquid. We pray that that situation alleviates itself which it often does with time.

*For Charlie to have perseverance in his hard work of recovery.

*Don and I are asking for prayers for wisdom for whatever comes in the future.

*Charlie will be receiving therapy in Wichita, so prayers for that to be successful.

I'm sorry there are so many prayer intentions! There has been so much progress that in my opinion is just not possible without the prayers. His doctors and care team are very impressed with the progress that he's made.

We will be returning to Children's Mercy on the 28th of September to have Charlie's staples removed from his incision. We will also be talking about Charlie's care going forward.

We are undeserving of this generous outpouring of love for Charlie and our family!

You have all edified us with your Christ-like example. May God bless you abundantly!

St. Joseph of Cupertino pray for us!

Venerable Fr. Emil Kapaun pray for us!

Our Lady of Sorrows pray for us!

Update 9/14

Today was a very busy day for Charlie.

He had physical therapy and he was able to walk all the way down the hallway and back.

OT and Speech. They're also planning to integrate music therapy.

Prayers were answered! Charlie has been eating normally and his pain is under control. Praise God! He also had a better night's sleep.

*Continued prayers for benign pathology report.

* Bodily functions to regulate.

*Natural shrinkage or zero growth of the 2 spots deeper in the brain.

*Recovery of the use of his right hand.

*Ability to articulate his thoughts into words.

The moment that Charlie could smile, we all knew he was going to get through this. Your prayers brought back that smile and are helping him heal every single day! They are giving us serenity in this storm. We are so unworthy of all of your generosity of prayers, doordash certificates and monetary gifts. I am running out of ways to say thank you. I never knew our family would grow so large. Thank you Family!

Update 9/13

We talked to Charlie's nuerosurgeon this morning. Dr. Haynes reviewed the MRI with us that was taken 24 hours after surgery.

She was able to remove 95% of the main tumor. There are 2 additional small spots that she suspects might be tumors, but they are not accessible without risking brain damage.

The plan going forward is to wait for pathology results to come back and to monitor those 2 spots for changes. This is good news! Praise be to God!

Our intentions are benign pathology results and shrinking of the 2 remaining spots. Pain reduction for Charlie especially around the incision. For his appetite to increase. The ability to get adequate rest in the noisy chaos that surrounds him.

The generosity of prayer and financial gifts from everyone is so overwhelming and humbling! But the outpouring of prayer is reaching our hearts in every dark moment and every sleepless night... It is the thread that is holding us together. We can't begin to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for each and everyone of you. We love you all. 🩷
