Support Jeff’s Fight After Freak Skate Accident

On Sunday, September 13th, our family’s lives changed in a matter of seconds.

My dad, Jeff, was doing what he loves most—his routine skateboard run—when another person’s skateboard unexpectedly flew into the front of his board, ejecting and throwing him to the ground. At the hospital, we learned he had five broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a broken arm. He was then urgently transferred to ORMC for care.

After about a week in the trauma unit at ORMC, things took a turn we never expected and our lives quickly became a living nightmare. His injured lung began to fail, and he was transferred to the ICU. He has now spent over a week in an induced coma, relying on a ventilator for proper oxygenation while his body fights to heal. He is also battling severe pneumonia, making his recovery even more difficult.

Our family has spent each day by his side, celebrating every small improvement and praying for the day we can finally bring him home and talk to him again. I visit him, hold his hand, and remind him to keep fighting. I miss being able to have a simple conversation with my dad.

While his health is our greatest concern, life outside the ICU hasn’t stopped. My dad lives on his own and is solely responsible for his expenses. He has been completely unable to work since the accident, while housing, utilities, insurance, and everyday bills continue to add up. Right now, there is no clear timeline for how long he will remain in the ICU, what recovery will look like afterward, or when he will physically be able to return to work. The last thing we want is for my dad to wake up from this experience carrying the additional weight of financial stress.

Everyone who knows my dad knows he can be a lot—but he is also one incredibly loved man. You simply can’t meet Jeff without remembering him. He has a way of leaving an impact on people, and right now, we’re hoping the community he has impacted will rally around him.

That’s why we’re asking our friends, family, community, and anyone who feels led to help. Donations will go toward his everyday living expenses and costs associated with this unexpected medical crisis, allowing him to focus on what matters most: getting stronger, getting healthy, getting home and getting back on his feet.

We have already seen God working through this situation, and we are continuing to trust Him through every day ahead.

The amount of love and support surrounding my dad during this time is something we will never forget. I can't wait for when he wakes up and I get to remind him how truly loved he is.
