Support for Edward, Selina and Baby Magnus

Selina and her husband, Edward, are an Orthodox Christian family of four and are the kind of people who faithfully show up for others with love, generosity, and compassion. They are deeply faithful people who seek to put God at the center of their family and their lives. They are now walking through one of the most heartbreaking and uncertain seasons a family can face.

During their 20 week scan, they learned that their precious baby boy, Magnus, has several severe abnormalities. Among Magnus’s several diagnoses are ectopia cordis, a rare condition in which the heart develops outside of the chest cavity, and exencephaly, a condition in which the brain develops exposed without the protection of a skull. And I wish that were it, but there are also 3 more abnormalities effecting his face, spine, hands and feet.

Because of the severity of Magnus’s condition, his family has been told that he is not expected to survive and at the same time, Selina and Edward are working closely with her medical team to protect Selina’s life and health. There is still much uncertainty about what the coming days and weeks will look like, and they are facing incredibly difficult decisions regarding Magnus and Selina’s care.

Our hope is to help carry some of this financial burden so Selina and Edward can focus on their family, be present for one another, care for Selina, and prayerfully navigate the decisions before them without the added weight of financial uncertainty.

The medical appointments, hospital care, and uncertainty surrounding this journey will require Selina and Edward to take significant time away from work while also preparing for substantial hospital and medical expenses and other unexpected costs.

Through all of this, Selina and Edward are turning to God for guidance, strength, and wisdom and ask for prayers as they seek to discern the difficult decisions before them.
