Praise the Lord Jesus Family. My name is Rebecca Ekisaakye Wendo. Though born to a Ugandan mother and a Kenyan father, I am basically staying with my mother who is struggling to see that I reach my destiny. She is a single mother that desires to see God's work complete in her child. Therefore, I make my humble plea to you for help. After much prayer and intercession, the Lord has directed me to the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations in Geneva, Switzerland, https://genevadiplomacy.ch. I am enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in International Relations (BAIR) program, https://genevadiplomacy.ch/programmes/bachelor-of-international-relations/. The semester begins 1st September and the duration of the program is 3 years with the fees and accomodation coming to about KES 22,010,000 that is $170,000. The most urgent need is to pay the tuition fees of $12,000 for the first semester so that the receipt is sent to the Swiss Embassy and my visa is easily processed. There is always a penalty added when the fees are delayed as in this case I missed the first deadline of 31st July ($11000). Essentially, “the program offers a structured academic foundation in international relations, diplomacy, and global governance, supported by small group teaching and close interaction with faculty and practitioners. Students benefit from a learning environment that combines theory, applied analysis, and experiential learning, preparing them for both professional practice and further academic study.”
Following my completion of the BAIR program, I intend to pursue the Master of International Relations (MIR) program, https://genevadiplomacy.ch/programmes/master-of-international-relations/. that takes one year. Once the program is completed, by God's grace, I hope to work with organizations that deal with human trafficking such as the Troy Brewer Ministries, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), among others, wherever the Lord calls me to serve. Studies have shown that human trafficking is steadily growing and rivaling, or even threatening to surpass, arms trafficking in profitability. In my own life, I have seen how it can destroy a family. While I am not a victim of human trafficking, I have a burden on my heart for children around the world who were not rescued and even died innocently because of man's wickedness, due to the following experiences. My brother was nearly kidnapped at a church event to be sold for a sacrifice. It was God that saved him. He was 3 years old. Later, as an adult, my father kept my siblings and I illegally in Rwanda to prevent us from discovering the truth about our mother. Through out our early childhood years, he had mistreated her, denied us access to her, and brought mistresses into the home. In more than 10 years we saw our mother twice and never had any communication with her. When we refused to remain in Rwanda, he paid officers to “smuggle” us across the border and later offered me for sale to an elderly man in Qatar to be his wife. At the time, I was very naive. I didn't think my father and his mistress were capable of such. My believe is that God called me to rescue children across the world from such powers of darkness. If it had not been for the prayers my Pastor and my mother, and the rescue of my Bible Study teacher, I would not be alive today. I have also recently realized that my passion to serve did not start with me, but with my maternal grandfather who served in the UN. I did not know that I was carrying the mantle, the passion to serve at an influential level. Just like he did, I want to enforce, rescue, support, and counsel God's children not just at the ground level but also in a position were the Lord will influence laws and legislation through me; and I believe that Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations is the place the Lord has chosen: the motto is "Serviendo Guberno," which translates from Latin to mean "To Govern is to Serve." Just like Jesus said, in Matthew 20:28, "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many." This university is about servant leadership and that is what Jesus Christ requires of me.
Additionally, I am learning various languages so as to be able to communicate to these children that Jesus loves them and that He saves. Among these languages are Spanish and French. In fact, I intend to be fluent in as many languages as possible so as to be able to raise even more awareness of the pain of human trafficking. We must save our future, and the future is our children. Mark 10:14: Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these".
