On August 17, my husband was hospitalized after being bitten by a venomous spider. What we thought would be a quick emergency room visit turned into a hospital admission with multiple rounds of antibiotics, morphine, and eventually surgery that affected the use of his hand.

My husband works hard as a hospital security officer, a job that requires him to use his hands. It's unclear when he'll be able to return to work, and that uncertainty has left me trying to cover everything on my own.

Both of us work hard, but our savings have been depleted maintaining our son's therapies, he has severe cognitive delay and severe autism, and much of what he needs isn't covered by insurance. With my husband's recovery uncertain and medical bills from his hospitalization and surgery, we're struggling to keep our family afloat.
