As requested by several people who have asked how they can help as I prepare for this move, I’ve created this page as one way to contribute. I’m so grateful for the love, generosity, and genuine desire to support me as I step into this new chapter.
I’ve been advised by my hiring team/visa advisor to have at least 10,000 RMB (about $1,500 USD) available when I arrive to help cover initial expenses, unexpected costs, and the time between arriving and receiving my first paycheck.
I’ll also be responsible for purchasing my own flight. I’m waiting until my visa clears before booking so I don’t risk choosing a flight date that’s too early, but waiting also means airfare may become more expensive as my departure gets closer.
Any additional support will help with other moving expenses, including shipping my car home, travel necessities, and the many little costs that come with preparing for an international move.
