In January 2025, my husband suffered a major heart attack (the widow maker). He survived, but was subsequently diagnosed with severe neurodegenerative decline, Alzheimer's. He has been unable to work for almost two years and never will be able to again.

Getting his disability approved took a long road, and we went through our savings quickly during that time. What SSDI provides is not going to be enough. The time is soon approaching when I'll need to leave my place of employment to become his full-time caregiver. Hiring someone for that care is simply out of our reach.

I've been trying to find a remote position I can do for a while longer, but it's been a rough journey navigating so many scams. Between medical costs and our daily living expenses, a couple big home repairs we've reached the point where we need to ask for help in order to get through what is ahead.
