Help Us Stay in Our Home

Help Us Stay in Our Home

My husband and I are facing an urgent housing crisis and are humbly asking for help to remain in our apartment home. This is not an easy request for us to make.

Over the past year, we have done everything we can to navigate an extremely challenging season privately, responsibly, and with faith. We are accustomed to working, providing for ourselves, living within our budget, and finding a way forward. But this past year has stretched our household in ways we never anticipated.

Last summer, my husband suffered two confirmed medical strokes. We are incredibly grateful that he has recovered enough to return to work, but his health journey continues. He still requires daily medication and ongoing care to help reduce the risk of another stroke.

During this same period, I have continued working as an educator and am currently working part-time while actively seeking more stable employment. Over the past year, we have worked hard to stay afloat with our housing costs, utilities, groceries, transportation, medications, and other basic household needs. We have adjusted, cut back, prioritized our expenses, and done everything we know to do responsibly, but the financial impact of this past year has become increasingly difficult to absorb.

We also have documented rental ledgers showing a long-standing, solid history of meeting our housing obligations. This current situation is not reflective of our overall rental history, but rather the result of an unusually difficult season that has placed significant strain on our household finances.

We have pursued legitimate rental assistance, emergency assistance, community resources, and governmental programs. Unfortunately, we have not received financial assistance. Some of the agencies we contacted no longer had available funds, while other programs determined that we did not meet their eligibility requirements.

We are now facing eviction from our apartment.

On Friday, August 21, the court gave us until Monday, August 31, 2026, at 4:00 PM to submit $7,410.56 in certified funds in order to remain in our home.

By God’s provision and through our own efforts, we have been able to put together $4,000 toward that amount.

That leaves us with a remaining need of $3,410.56.

Because the money must be transferred, cleared, and available in enough time for us to obtain certified funds before the court deadline, we are prayerfully working toward raising the remaining amount by Friday, August 28th, 2026.

Asking for support is extremely difficult for us. We have spent this past year believing God, working, praying, making adjustments, and doing our best to manage what has been in front of us. We are accustomed to finding a way, but we have reached a point where we simply need help.

We continue to believe that God is our source, and we also understand that He provides in many different ways—including through people who feel led to help one another.

If you feel led and are able to contribute, any amount would be deeply appreciated. Whether it is $10, $25, $50, $100, or another amount, every contribution moves us closer to meeting this urgent deadline and remaining in our home.

If you are unable to give, we completely understand and sincerely ask that you keep our family in prayer.

Thank you for reading our story, for caring, and for your prayers and support during this season. We do not take any act of kindness toward our family lightly.

Through all of this, we continue to stand on the truth of Psalm 46:1:

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1 NIV

With sincere gratitude and faith,

The Greenes
