Help Our Family's Housing Emergency

My name is Shalonda, and I’m reaching out with humility and faith during one of the hardest seasons our family has ever faced. We were a family of seven, but became a family of eight over the summer when we took in a child who had nowhere safe to go and receives no child support. Our household already carries significant challenges — my husband is unable to work due to a traumatic brain injury from an accident, and one of our children has an intellectual disability that requires ongoing care. We are actively searching for a new home, but until we find one, we are fighting to keep our current home so our children are not left homeless in the middle of this legal battle. We have followed every requirement of the court, but the financial strain of this situation — combined with the responsibility of caring for an additional child — has become too heavy for us to carry alone.

We recently received an eviction date even though our appeal is active and the court has granted us a continuance. We are doing everything we can to follow the legal process, protect our children, and maintain stability in our home. But the costs connected to this situation — moving and storage fees, legal expenses, emergency needs, and basic necessities — have created a burden we simply cannot meet without help.

We are asking for support to cover urgent housing-related costs, legal expenses, and essential needs for our children during this emergency. Taking in another child during this time was an act of faith and compassion, but it also increased our household expenses significantly. We are doing everything we can, but we need help to stay housed and keep our family safe while the legal process continues.
