I have worked at Adelaide University since 2012. In that time I became one of Australia's leading scholars in Law, the holder of several prestigious category 1 grants, the author and co-editor of 3 books and appointed by successive federal governments to advisory bodies and expert committees on migration. However, since 2022 when I began publicly advocating against Australian laws permitting abortion up to birth, my employment has been under serious threat. Within the first 18 months, I faced six investigations in relation to my prolife advocacy and research. In mid-July 2024 I took my employer to the Fair Work Commission and won.
This win in the FWC temporarily halted the bullying and harassment but last November it began again in earnest. I've now had several new investigations opened up because of my public advocacy and research in the areas of abortion, gender ideology, consent and sex education and Islam. The university's allegations have mounted up and are now over 200 in total. Since March this year the university has also been sending me legal letters (I've received more than 20 so far) from a top tier law firm, Baker and MacKenzie.
Every single investigation and allegation relates to public comments I've made that the university and the leftwing orthodoxy of the academy disagrees with. Not a single allegation relates to any issue or problem with my teaching or research publications.
After careful consultation with my husband and 5 children, I have made the difficult decision to fight for my academic freedom and the rights of all Australians to be free from this tyranny that bullies and silences those who dare dissent from the left's agenda .
Every abortion kills an innocent human being and is morally wrong. You may disagree with my position on this, but surely we can all agree that my right to hold this position and advocate for it, are fundamental rights in a democracy.
