I never imagined I would be asking for help like this. As a husband and father, my job is to provide for my family, and swallowing my pride to create this fundraiser has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. This fundraiser was created at the encouragement of our family because we had exhausted every other option before asking for help.

Not long ago, our family experienced homelessness before we were blessed to receive housing assistance. It gave us hope and a chance to rebuild our lives, but eventually that assistance expired and our housing costs increased dramatically. In the same month , the company I was working for went under and I lost my job, our car seized up and we lost our personal vehicle, and unusual, unexpectedly high utility bills caused us to begin falling behind.

I eventually found another job that came with a company work van, giving our family transportation and hope that we were finally moving forward. But over the following months, we faced more unexpected challenges, including a broken ac unit, broken washing machine and the news that our youngest daughter may be autistic which comes with referrals and appointments. We’re still going through the evaluation process and doing everything we can to make sure she gets the support she needs.

Then, just last week, I unexpectedly lost my job again. Because the work van belonged to my employer, we had to return it, leaving our family without any transportation. It feels like every time we begin making progress, another obstacle pushes us backward before we’ve had a chance to recover.

We’re not looking for a handout. I would much rather work for every dollar than ask for help. I’m actively looking for another job, but right now we simply need a little help catching up on essential bills and getting reliable transportation so I can get back to work and provide for my family again.

We’re not asking anyone to solve all of our problems. We’re simply asking for a chance to breathe again, to catch up, and to give our children the stability every family deserves.
