Comparing Online Crowdfunding Platforms (and Why GiveSendGo is the Obvious Choice!)

Posted by Alex Shipley on Feb 27, 2023

If you've ever had a need or desire to fundraise online you've probably done a quick Google Search to find the best option that fits your needs, only to find the list of potential crowdfunding platforms to choose from is EXTENSIVE and they all have various pros and cons. Not everyone has the time to look at each platform in detail, so it can be overwhelming to know which one to choose. That's why, in this blog, we'll take a look at five of the most popular crowdfunding platforms, including our own, and compare each of them to show why you should ALWAYS choose GiveSendGo to fundraise for your cause. Indigogo Indigogo is known as a crowdfunding platform primarily for creative and entrepreneurial projects. In addition to crowdfunding they offer services such as pre-launch and distribution. Interestingly, Indigogo allows its users the choice between flexible fundraising or an all-or-nothing fundraising model, meaning the campaign owner can only receive the money they've raised if they reach their goal. Unfortunately, we've recently seen Indigogo deplatform and censor campaign owners and their campaigns. Many of those people have come to GiveSendGo as a result. Fees: Indigogo has a platform fee of 5% and a processing rate of 3% + $0.20. Additionally, they charge another $25 to send funds to banks internationally. Kickstarter Kickstarter proudly states that its platform is used to "bring a project to life". As you may have guessed, their platform is used mainly by creators (both popular and just starting out) for projects and startups. There are a plethora of visual examples on their main page as well as current and previously successful campaign projects. Fees: Kickstarter will only release the funds that were raised to a campaign owner if they reached their goal. They also have a platform fee of 5% and a processing fee of 3% + $0.20. GoFundMe GoFundMe is best known for personal fundraising in addition to fundraising for nonprofits. They offer a donor protection guarantee, allow you to view campaigns near you, and provide all the other general crowdfunding features. While GoFundMe is probably one of the most widely known crowdfunding platforms, it's not necessarily always for the best reasons. GoFundMe has had a habit of deplatforming and censoring many campaigns that have been started on their site simply for not agreeing with the campaign or the campaign owner. This has forced users to look elsewhere for other fundraising solutions. Fees: Like GiveSendGo they do not charge a platform fee, but their processing fee is 2.9% + $0.30. Fundly Like GiveSendGo, Fundly is a Christian crowdfunding platform. Their primary focus is on churches and religious organizations. Their platform dawns all the general crowdfunding capabilities and features such as campaign updates, giving levels, social sharing integrations, a campaign image and video gallery, and a campaign description box. Fundly also has a free app available. Fees: While starting a campaign on Fundly is free to do, once you start receiving donations Fundly charges a 4.9% platform fee in addition to a 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee. GiveSendGo GiveSendGo was created by Christians for everyone. Our mission is to share the hope of Jesus through crowdfunding. We believe crowdfunding is about so much more than just meeting people's material needs. It's also about providing hope for people's spiritual needs. That's why GiveSendGo puts such a huge emphasis on prayer. First, we're the only crowdfunding platform with a team of prayer partners. This team is dedicated to calling campaign owners on our site to pray for them and their fundraising endeavors. Second, we're also the first and only platform to have a "Pray Now" button on each campaign, allowing prayers to be sent and received. Third, GiveSendGo also has a prayer wall where anyone can go to share a praise or prayer request so people can pray for them (including the prayer team who closely monitors the page). And we want you to share the hope with the people around you by using GiveSendGo to raise money for the people and causes you care about! GiveSendGo is also cheaper! A common thread you may have seen when reading this article is that other platforms charge a platform fee, a lofty processing fee, or both. But not GiveSendGo! GiveSendGo's platform is entirely FREE to use. They don't charge a platform fee. In fact, GiveSendGo was the first crowdfunding platform to operate off of a generosity model, meaning people only give to GiveSendGo when they choose to and want to show their support for the platform. Fees: GiveSendGo recently lowered their third-party's processing rate to 2.7% + $0.30 to be lower than their competitors! GiveSendGo has also become known as the leader in freedom fundraising. Many crowdfunding platforms, including the ones mentioned in this list, are quick to deplatform or censor campaigns they don't agree with. However, GiveSendGo believes everyone has a voice that deserves to be heard. We're adamant that we protect people's right to fundraise for who and what they love, despite the views of society, the media, and even how we may feel about you and your campaign. Choosing GiveSendGo to fundraise for your cause sounds like a no-brainer at this point, right?!

On January 25, 2023, a train derailment occurred in East Palestine, Ohio, causing significant damage and disrupting the daily lives of residents in the community. The incident happened when a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials derailed in the center of town, resulting in several cars tipping over and spilling their contents. Emergency crews were quick to respond, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the effects of the derailment will be felt in the community for some time to come. The immediate aftermath of the incident saw several roads in and around East Palestine closed, causing significant traffic delays and inconveniences for those attempting to navigate the area. Additionally, the spillage of hazardous materials necessitated the evacuation of several buildings, including a nearby nursing home, and caused concerns about air quality for nearby residents. The long-term effects of the derailment are not yet clear. The incident caused significant damage to the train tracks and the surrounding infrastructure, which will need to be repaired before trains can resume normal operations. This will undoubtedly cause further disruptions and inconveniences for residents and businesses in the area. Additionally, the spillage of hazardous materials may have long-term environmental consequences that will need to be addressed. In response to the incident, GiveSendGo Charities has launched a fundraising campaign on GiveSendGo.com called "Community Relief for East Palestine, Ohio." The campaign aims to raise funds to support the residents and businesses impacted by the derailment. The funds raised will be designated to groups and organizations in the area to provide emergency supplies, such as food and water, to those affected by the incident. All donations made to the campaign will be tax-deductible. The campaign has already received a significant amount of support, with individuals and organizations from around the country donating to help the people of East Palestine. The community has also rallied around those affected by the incident, with local organizations and businesses offering support and resources to those in need. In times of crisis, it is heartening to see communities come together to support each other. The train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, has undoubtedly caused significant disruptions and inconveniences for the people of the area. Still, the response from the community and the broader public has been inspiring, and it is a testament to the resilience and strength of the human spirit. For those who wish to support the people of East Palestine, Ohio, the "Community Relief for East Palestine, Ohio" fundraising campaign provides an opportunity to do so. Every little bit helps, and together, we can help the people of East Palestine recover from this challenging incident. Let's shine brightly together by sharing hope with those who need it through GiveSendGo.com!

Paw-some Fundraising: How to Raise Funds on GiveSendGo for Your Furry-Friend

Posted by Alex Shipley on Feb 20, 2023

Do you have a furry friend who needs some financial help? Maybe they've been chowing down on too many treats or chasing after their own tail a little too aggressively. Many times our furry friends have medical bills that are just too overwhelming for us to handle on our own. If so, GiveSendGo might be just the platform you need to fundraise for your pet's needs. Here's how to make it happen: Create a campaign on GiveSendGo! First things first: you've got to create a campaign for your four-legged pal. This should be a piece of cake for you and your furry friend, but if you're unsure, don't hesitate to paw-sit and do a little research on how to set up a great campaign. Maybe check out one of our other blogs on how to start a GiveSendGo campaign or watch one of our how-to videos on Rumble or YouTube. Set a fundraising goal! Next, decide how much you need to fundraise for your pet's needs. But remember: if you ask for too much, your supporters might start to flea. On the other hand, if you ask for too little, you might not be able to afford the purrfect treatment for your pet. Be realistic, and don't be afraid to reach out to your veterinarian for a second opinion. Share your campaign! Time to spread the word! Share your campaign on social media or through email and text and make sure to bark up the right tree. Ask your friends and family to share the campaign with their own furry friends. You never know who might be willing to help out. Remember, very rarely is there a group of strangers looking to donate to GiveSendGo campaigns. It's most likely people in your own circle (family, friends, co-workers, church, etc.) who are going to give to your campaign. Provide updates! Make sure to keep your supporters in the loop on your pet's progress. If your pup is feeling better or your kitty has stopped coughing up hairballs, let your supporters know! And don't forget to include some cute pet pics in your updates. After all, who doesn't love to see some adorable dog or cat pics? Express gratitude! Last but not least, don't forget to show some appreciation to your supporters. Send them some puppy or kitty kisses and a heartfelt thank you (either through a message or a handwritten note - maybe even include some paw prints to go along with it). You might even want to give them a shoutout on social media. Just don't forget to thank your furry friend too - they're the ones who got you to start a campaign on GiveSendGo in the first place! In conclusion, GiveSendGo is a great platform to help fundraise for your pet's needs. And with a little bit of effort and some adorable pet pics, you might just be able to get the support you need to help your furry friend out of a tough spot. Good luck, and happy fundraising!

How to Use GiveSendGo in Your Community

How to Use GiveSendGo in Your Community

Posted by Alex Shipley on Feb 17, 2023

If you go to our homepage at GiveSendGo.com you'll notice various trending campaigns, most of which have gone viral on social media and have raised a substantial amount of money. And all of those campaigns started off in the same way - one person saw a need and believed they could make a difference in their community by using GiveSendGo. And you can too! Our mission has always been to share the hope of Jesus through crowdfunding, but now we want YOU to use GiveSendGo to share hope with those around you. Here are 5 ways you can use GiveSendGo to make a difference in your community. Disaster Relief When you think of crowdfunding you probably think of fundraising for the relief and support of a community recently affected by a natural disaster. GiveSendGo is never short of these types of campaigns. We can't control when a natural disaster like a hurricane, tornado, wildfire, etc. is going to strike, but when it does rest assured GiveSendGo will be there for you to raise money for your affected community. Food for Shut-Ins Sometimes you may have to look a little harder for things in your community you can help with. Ask around and I bet you'll find that even your community has people who are stuck at home and need your help to get food and other supplies. But these basic needs are often expensive (eggs alone more than doubled in price), not to mention buying for several shut-ins. Start a GiveSendGo campaign and share it with those in your community! Before no time you'll have raised the money you need to help the shut-ins in your community without breaking the bank. Church Fundraiser Maybe your church is raising money to replace the pews, put in a new parking lot, or take a team on a mission trip. Whatever the cause, GiveSendGo is a simple solution to your church's needs. In fact, this is how GIveSendGo began! When first launched almost () years ago, we were much smaller than we are today, we started as a platform for Christian causes, especially mission trips. Now, GiveSendGo has extended its purpose far beyond just Christian crowdfunding, but our mission remains the same - to share hope - and we hope you do the same in your community! Grade School or College/University If you've lived long enough you've probably had a child come knocking on your door asking if you could buy some candles, cookies, or candy for their school fundraiser. And every item is always double if not triple what you'd be willing to pay if you saw it in a store. But how could you say no to that adorable face, right? Next time, instead of purchasing out of a guilty conscience, reach out to the school and suggest they start a GiveSendGo campaign the community can donate to instead. Or, with the school's permission, start a campaign to collect donations in your community for a current school fundraiser. If there's a college or university in your community, there's almost always a need for fundraising whether it's for students studying abroad or going on an educational trip, a better volleyball net, or their annual booster banquet. Call around and see what you can start a campaign on GiveSendGo for. Community Project and Events Has your community recently announced they want to repair a bridge, build a new library, or they're hosting a community-wide event? Sometimes the city has enough money for its projects and other times they ask for donations from the community to make their project happen. See if they'll allow you to start a fundraiser on GiveSendGo to streamline the donation process and make it easily shareable on their social media pages. But not every community project is led by or thought of by the city. Maybe it's something you personally want to do or need to do to improve and support your community. Here at GiveSendGo, we've seen it all! Right now there are people on our site raising money to build a shooting range in their town, purchase a vehicle to start a local taxi service, support a struggling farm, buy Christmas presents for kids in their community later this year, and even purchase books and supplies for a school classroom.Whether big or small there's always a need in your community that you can help with! Who knew crowdfunding could feel so good? "Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it." - Proverbs 3:27

How Can You Help With Earthquake Relief?

When disaster strikes... such as a deadly earthquake, how can you help? You might feel like there's no way someone like you can make an impact. I mean, look at the facts, the earthquake that affected Turkey and Syria happened thousands of miles away this past week,, in a place where you probably know no one! If you're the type of person who's ready to defy all odds for the sake of helping people in need, read on! First thing you can do for people affected by the earthquake is PRAY for them. A few specific things you can pray for are to ask for quick healing over the sick and wounded. Remember God's heart for the people He's mourning and mourn with Him. Ask for provision of needs for the earthquake victims, especially that people will have water and food. Ask for more faith and truth in God and proclaim that you trust in Him! "Jesus we TRUST you and know that you are moving!" He always has and will continue to keep His promises. This devastating event isn't too big for Him. There are many other things to pray for. Comment on this blog about what you are praying for so we can pray with you! Secondly, you can give! Do you know someone with a GiveSendGo campaign you can give to? If not, do a quick search on our site and you'll find several campaigns already started on our site for the people of Turkey and Syria. In fact, GiveSendGo Charities has already started a campaign for earthquake relief that you can pray for and give to - https://www.givesendgo.com/EarthquakeHelp. Using the money you donate, they'll send resources to organizations on site in the country actively making an impact to see families and communities recover AND all donations are considered tax-deductible. Our charity branch is constantly on the lookout for causes they can raise money for or support. Their Send Network - a network of trusted, verified people they've already built relationships with - receives the funds and distributes the resources from your donations to the exact specifications of what the campaign says the money will be used for! GiveSendGo's goal is to have a safe and reliable platform where people can have their material and spiritual needs met. People can give to causes they trust and care about and raise money for what they believe in. You can learn more about GiveSendGo Charities at www.GiveSendGo.org. Thirdly, if you DO know someone in Turkey or Syria you can start a campaign on GiveSendGo to support them or others who have been affected. Our platform is free to use and because of our lower payment processing fee, you're able to use and do more with the money you raise. Remember, it takes one person to make a difference in this world! Will it be you?

New year, same crowdfunding platform... or is it?

New year, same crowdfunding platform... or is it?

New year, same crowdfunding platform...or is it? While GiveSendGo is the same Christ following, freedom loving, justice seeking platform, we have some New Year's resolutions! We took a look at our platform's yearly analytics - from givers, to senders, to go-ers. We were blown away at how God is growing and using GiveSendGo to share hope to the world. We've seen this through giving a voice to someone whose campaign was taken down on another site. When society told them their voice doesn't matter because it's different from their own, they chose to silence it. And don't get me started on the miraculous stories from our prayer partner ministry. We could talk about it all day! God, through His divine intervention, uses those phone calls to do miracles! There's one that still makes me tear up that I'll briefly share. I won't go into it fullly, but we had one call that God used to stop a suicide that was about to happen right at the time of the phone call. This person had lost all hope and had a gun in their hand. God created this person and He loves His children! So, God led our Prayer Team to call them at the right place at the right time to let that very special person know He see's them, hears them and is mourning with them. And from that phone call and God's love toward that person, they were able to see a glimmer of hope. Jesus! You have blessed our company SO much! Use us to bless your kingdom more. Speak, your servants are listening! God calls us to be generous. If we're going to help lead a movement of generosity, freedom, and becoming more Christ-like, then we need to read the Bible and follow Jesus' example of a what a true leader is. Jesus, our shepherd, the leader who leaves the 99 for the one, served his people. Day and night he served with humility, healed the sick, and performed miracle upon miracle. Jesus didn't ride on the back of a horse when he arrived in Jerusalem. He CHOSE a donkey, a symbol of peace and humility, over a horse which often in the Bible had relations to kings and war. He CHOSE to wash the feet of his disciples, including Judas who Jesus knew would soon betray him. There are countless examples of Jesus being God's humble servant. We should want to be more like Jesus. This year GiveSendGo wants to serve every campaign on our website. We want to make the experience even more easy to understand, quick to set up, and reliable. We want to be a site you can trust. This is something we are constantly trying to improve. With that being said, we do have an announcement about this upcoming year we're very excited to share! Starting Monday, January 2, 2023, GiveSendGo is lowering our processing rate to 2.7% + 30cents for new donations to USA based campaigns. Thank you Jesus for all that you are doing and continue to do with GiveSendGo. We would also like to thank all of our GiveSendGo users for standing with us through thick and thin! Have a happy New Year everyone!

8 Creative Christmas Activities to do with your Kids! From children's ministries to being creative with our own kids, the GiveSendGo creative team has come up with a few ideas for your family to spend some quality time in a creative way Make a popcorn garland A Christmas family favorite in our house! It's simple, all you need is 2 day old popcorn, fishing wire, and a needle ( you can buy plastic ones for the kids! ) This will be an hour or so of the little people stringin', maybe a little bit of singin', and of course eating way too much stale popcorn! Write a letter to santa and 'send it' Your kids may have written to Santa already, but here is an idea to make memories out of it! Once your kids have written a letter to the big man in red, place the letter in your mailbox. Later before the mail comes to be picked up, grab the letters and put them in a box somewhere you won't lose them. When your kids are older, maybe even when they have their own kids, you can pull out these timecaples and share with your grandkids what their parents wanted when they were younger! Decorate their room with paper snowflakes! This time of year, the common areas of your house will usually have Christmas decorations, but why stop there! I remember decorating my room as a kid was THE BEST feeling! Grab a pair of scissors a white piece of paper and, of course, the tried and true, watch a 'how to' video on YouTube. Create, with salt dough When I first saw this idea, I was amazed how simple, yet creative it was! You can create playdough using only 3 ingredients: water, salt and flour! With this you can build the nativity scene with the animals, a manger, baby Jesus, and so much more! You can also create ornaments with the playdoh, just poke a hole through the top, bake at 225F for 90 minutes, wait to cool down and hang-up! Go see christmas lights Going to see the houses and cities participating in putting up Christmas lights to spread holiday cheer is the perfect recipe for memories in the making! The stunning and creative Christmas light displays are a special treat for all ages. Add 1 cup of hot chocolate to make the night even more special! Bake Christmas cookies There are tons of quick and easy cookie recipes to help you with this one! To make them more festive you can add red and green sprinkles! Gingerbread men cookies are fun to bake and decorate too! Gingerbread houses If you made gingerbread men, might as well give them a good place to live! A fun, festive and sweet way to get your kids creativity flowing! Be generous We might be biased, but here at GiveSendGo we think giving is a GREAT activity to do as a family. Take a look at our campaigns on GiveSendGo with your family and choose someone in need who could use your families help. May this season be filled with so many special memories for your family that will be remembered for a lifetime! Lastly, remember, the reason for the season! Our King, the Saviour of the world was born!
